I think as girls we don't relise the great priveleg God has given us. This is kind of a branch off from personal spaces in the girl guy forum. But I thought as girls where only we post I wanted to make it more personal.
Some times guys try to treat us like toys. Something that they can have when they want and then just throw away when there tired of it.
(I'm not saying all guys) Don't get me wronge there are a number of guys in our youth group who are really Godly men. Gentle men. Who would never hurt a girl. Not on prepuse.
But as Girls and Daughters of the king we DON'T have to let guys walk all over us.
Now I know we are to be sumisive and I'm not trying to say we should be bulldosers NO NOT AT ALL. BUt there are guys out there who will over step the bonderys like try to hug you or phisical contact. But it also happens emotionaly.
I don't know how many will actully coment on this but I think as girls we fail to relise sometimes who we really are. Yes God created The man before us and Yes we are to be under there head. Now a true Christain Girl I belive will want that but I'm talking as single girls here. Not married.
I Hope I'm not coming across wronge but if I am please let me know.

It has been on my heart for a while and I think it would be good to share it.
1. Why or why not do we dress modest?
I know it has been discussed in other threads but I want to run with it in a differnt derection. So once you guys tell me what you think I'll tell you why I do it. Its part of treasureing who we are. Believe it or not.

1 Thes. 5:22- "Abstain from all appearance of evil."
1 Tim. 2:9- "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;"
Those are just a few scriptures.
I dress modest because the bible says to dress modest. Because, I live for the Lord and I don't want to do anything contrary to the Word. I love Jesus, and when people look at me I want them to see a Godly Christian girl. I don't want men to lust after me, I don't want to cause a man to commit adultery in his heart.. We are His temple and we should be holy. :)

I know what you are trying to say by not letting guys walk all over you. There is no reason why you should be in that kind of situation in the first place. Unless you are courting(serious commitment approaching engagement and marriage) There shouldn't be any emotional connection that can be walked over let alone being physically used. You should be able to get to know boys in your youth group as friends in the group setting.
I don't have my bible with me right now, but there is a verse where it says Man is head of the woman as christ is head of the church. The man that is your head is your father until you get married, you are not to summit your self to any other man until you have your headship transferred to your husband.
Getting a friend a glass of water once in a while is okay, but being his servant(preparing his dinner plate) and doing chores (or woman's work) for him is not, He has a mom for that.
dressing modestly is respecting yourself and your future husband.

not only does the bible say to dress modestly, it also helps you to avoid awkward situations and blank stares from guys (and girls)....in so many words, you can go about your business without distracting everyone else

Interesting responces. Well I have heard the Bible says to dress modestly Which is true but Why dose it say that. This has been on my heart for a little while now and I thought I would just share it now.
By dressing inmodest we are not honering our bodys. Not some much that we should do it for the guys but for our selves. God has given us a specal treasure that only we can give. And when we get out and walk in inmodest stuff we are showing the world that I don't care about who I am. I don't care what treasure I am. Thats why I believe clothing is so important. And If there is a question in your mind don't do it. Watch your motives and objectives for wearing a certain thing.
More to come.........................

When we let guys complement us (same guy who is not your boyfreind.....) Are we treasureing who we are? I'm not talking about a guy coming up to you like once in a while and giving you a complement but doing it over and over. I hope I made it understandable.

Here is a poem that i hope will be an incouragement.
God given treasure
Each of us has a treasure hinden inside
A God given treasure
There just for one man
For a man who will
trully honer, love, and respect that treasure
That kind of a man
Is worth waiting for
A man like that
Is worth praying for
Because he is the one God has for you
Men like that are
A dimoned hard to find
A ruby of high price
And a value greater then money can by
But some where out there
If we pray, and seek God
He's got a guy like that waiting for you
God knows when its time
For the two of you to meet
So don't rush it, nore hinder it
Lay it in Gods hands
And in the end it will be worth it all.

vergenity (being pure). I'm am guessing but i would not be surprised if the majority of girls out in the world today are not pure any more. (I"m sure you get what I'm saying). Makes me praise God that I can say by his grace I am still pure.

Yes, I'm still pure as well. That is something that I treasure, and that I've never kissed a guy. For girls that's grown up in the message it wouldn't be as surprising, but 15 years of my life I lived worldly, and that's something that I'm proud of :)

If by fashion u mean wot some sisters think is acceptable to wear, like skirts that are a bit too short but are worn just because skirts are in fashion or overly tight tops that are worn because they don't show visible cleavage, then I would say no, i don't follow it. Otherwise I wear what is available which may be in fashion or may not be (I like to think I'm an individual ;) ) I like to think that I show the world that they can dress like ladies in up to date styles,if they really wanted to, without looking like world war 2 grannies (no offence to WW2 grannies).:)

i dress modestly, but i am also very different. my "style" (or lack therof...) varies on a daily basis. dont get me wrong, i love t-shirts, jean skirts, and flip flops as a staple, but one day i'll wear sparkles or bright colors, and the next i'll wear all black or very "business" oriented. i guess i can't really pinpoint my style, but i do wear stuff considered to be in fashion (not always) but i have to be careful because cute shirts don't fit me well...if you get my drift

I can't say I don't wear skirts that are in style but its not on purpose.
If its on sale and I like it or its given to me thats a differnet story. I'm not saying there is any thing wronge with haveing skirts that are fashionalble. But I think there is a danger there. That if we are not carefull we can be caught up in the spirit of wanting to look like a fashion magizen. And thats not what God has for us. We are to set an example and show the world that we are different. Not just by what we wear but also what we say and how we act.
Also Praise God for all the skirts that are out now. And the good thing is they are wide and floweyyy. i bought two that I like but only because I got them kind of as a gift. Like I was given a gift of money for helping a sister out. I was kind of surprised so I used part of it on clothes. Also they were on a really awesome deal.
I mean I do have skirts that would be what you call in right now but its not my motive or objective to try to look like I'm on top of the fashion world.

around where i live to be "on top of the fashion world" you'd have to wear a shirk that is 5 or 6 inches long (okay so maybe i'm exaggerating a little bit) and a shirt that isn't really there.
I can't say I don't wear skirts that are in style but its not on purpose.

Amen to all that... i'm the same way here... yup. Everything. Even about the skirts on sale... hehehe... I don't have any skirts that are IN now though. Which is... ummm... a good thing. :yay:
'Cause yeah, around here... those are about 5-6 inches long. :y14:

I just have to say; I really value and respect people that value a good stand for the Word. So many of the Message youth are trying so hard to fit in with the world, and really; what’s the point? The world hates us for who we are and the stand that we’ve made, so the least we can do is uphold that stand with everything in us. After all, who cares what the world thinks of us? But if we don’t take the important stand, in the end, it will matter what God thinks of us, and He’s who we want to please anyway.
Sisters, please don’t bend to the pressures of the fashon world. It’s simply not worth it! You can still look beautiful and be pleasing to God at the same time. The shorter skirts and tighter shirts may look fine to you, but does it send the wrong message to other people about your stand for the Word? Do you really look that different from the rest of the ‘average’ world if you dress that way?
Modesty (to a certain degree) is becoming the growing fashion in the world, but if you really think about it, the devil has just made it easier to stretch the limits to the max. Skirts are longer, but just a tiny bit tighter as well. It’s not the skirts that are way too short and way too tight that the devil will use to get us; we already know about them. But it will be the ones that look ‘ok’ that he will use. It’s becoming a perfect channel for him to work through, and many of us are going along with it.
This has been a great burden to me for the last few years, and I pray that God will make it a burden to each one of us as well. May God bless you as you continue to stand for Christ, and never take the devil’s lie when he says that we’re ugly and not beautiful because we dress a certain way. To God, (and a whole bunch of His sons, too:) ), we’re the most beautiful people He’s ever laid eyes on!

Sometimes it is really hard to uphold standards when you have been in a small church for a while, with only siblings for youth. Please remember me in your prayers.
