Ok something on my mind.

I am starting to wonder when it is appropriate to have a cut-off on. I wear them at home which is no big deal, but should we ever wear them in public? Or if I go lifting, is that ok? Especially in our society where women lust just as bad as men do, should we ever have them on in public? I just feel that if we are going to harp on women so much about their dress, I feel we ought to have standards for ourselves.

Lemme know...

Hmm, I wonder where the security alert button is???:misli:

Btw, what is a cut off on?

The term is new to me.

Can I ask the point or advantage in wearing a cut-offs??

Is it really that much easier to lift weights in less clothes??

I would think warm-ups and a t-shirt really aren't that bad.

Cut offs are essentially shorts, right?

Joking! Joking! I don't wear shorts or cutoffs....

What's the difference between cut-offs and shorts, other than cut-offs have a frayed edge? I've always considered them the same, and treated them that way....

From what I understand, the main thing to keep in mind is our motive and objective. Like, when I worked in construction, there was times when it was actually easier to work without a shirt, as a shirt tended to snag on reebar when you're building a basement and working in tight quarters...But, it was always on some construction sight, and there were no girls around...
If you're working out in a secluded area, and there's no girls around, I'd see nothing wrong with wearing shorts. In martial arts, when I was practicing every day at home, I'd wear shorts sometimes as it really is easier to do the high kicks, etc with shorts on. Again, no girls were around....and I was in a secluded area.....so, my motives were simply to exercise as comfortably as possable....trust me, it's hard to do the splits even in loose pants.....In class I wore the pants tho, altho it is more difficult to do some of the kicks....
Anyways, my point is that it's in your motive and objective...Most men sleep in shorts or something like that...and most girls probably sleep in pajama pants or w/e....so, just check your motive and objective....That's my half a cent:) lol

In the event that girls are around, I don't believe showing your legs would be appropriate. Cut-offs, shorts, pulled up pants (though I have pulled my pants up just below my knee when wading in the water), whatever.

OK lemme clear things up a little...

I met in a cut-off T-shrit, a shirt without sleeves.... As Bradley stated, shorts (as in pants that are short) should only be worn where you know for a fact a girl is not around such as at home....

In lifting, a cut-off makes a world of difference to me... It is sooo much cooler and easier to move, espeically since I do just about every lift imaginable. The places I lift, girls are usually no where to be found, I was just concerned if we should ever have them on anywhere remotely public. I guess personally, I didn't feel it was right to have them on in front of girls because at college (the one time I forgot I had it on because I woke up at the last second before class) I caught a stare and just didnt' feel right about it... I was just curious to what others thought. I mean, sometimes I'll go to the YMCA with my dad and we'll wear cut-offs to lift in. We try to pick times where most people don't go, that way girls are not there, but I just hate when there is one... its like "What are you doing here?? honestly lol..." ok sorry, a girl really LIFTING wieghts is not really something I find attractive at all. I don't want to get showed up by a girl lol!!

Ok, hope that focused the discussion a little bit...

Lol, ok, now we know what you were meaning ;) As long as it's not around girls, and the purpose is just to make it easier to lift weights... I don't see anything really wrong with it...

Been thinking about this lately. What if girls cut their hair for the purpose of getting comfort too. Also, if girls are not around to see us on shorts, how about the guys that are with us? They won't care because it's natural for them to wear it, but, is it natural for us to wear it before other men knowing that it is women's apparel?
This is not to offend, just lingered in my mind lately reminding me of it. God bless.

I'd like to point out that Andrew wasn't talking about cut off shorts....

Oh, I'm sorry. I really didn't understand it then. :y10:

Thank you Bro Noah. I stand corrected.

I don't think a cut-off shirt will matter. I had that difficulty also so I have to wear the thinnest shirt that I have because when perspiration is a lot, it sticks the shirt more to the skin that will affect the movement.

Personally i never had a problem wearing cut-off shirts, i believe that they have a time and play. i.e athletics, weightlifting, tanning, excercising. They are ok to be used as long as you are not parading around in them. Although i don't feel that they are appropriate around women (mostly women don't like seeing guys armpits believe it or not) if a girl saw me in one i wouldn't feel it was the end of the earth. Same applies to shorts as well.Just my personal conviction.
