View Full Version : Shaving....BLAH!!

Ok, I hate shaving. I think I cut myself everytime I shave. I mean, I have to shave like TWICE a week now!! This is outrageous! (sorry fellas...) I remember the days when I wanted facial hair because I wanted to all manly, and now I just want it to go away!! (what little I have of course). So this post isn't really for any controversal discussion, just a place for us to talk about how dumb shaving is!
I currently have a Mache 3 turbo. Seems to work pretty well, but my blades don't last as long as my dad's and I shave about a fifth as often as he does. This is all confusing to me. But, I'm still waiting for the Mache 65 "With sixty-five blades for the absolute closest shave!!" I can see the commericals now.......when will they stop??

<chuckle>
I use a Mach 3 about once or twice a week myself.
I find they last long enough... I maybe go through 10 blades a year tops?? I don't really know for sure. I don't buy em very often tho.
I am on the market for a good, keep your neck skin nice and smooth and not all bumpy for 2 days after shaving moisturizer type thing if anyone knows of a good product. Currently using Nutrogena, which seems to be ok.

Lol, if you only have to shave twice a week, you are lucky.... if I have to go anywhere fancy in the evening it's closer to twice a day for me :( Believe me, that is way anoying....
I personally like 2-bladed Bic disposable razors, they seem to not cut me nearly as much as any other razor, and last long enough...

I dislike shaving a lot; I use some electronical thingy that works ok (it was given to me... some long time ago)
I don't shave regularly; I don't care too much, so I often have some hair growth but who cares? I don't at least; God doesn't either
sometimes people say irritating things on that; now and then they even get me to shave
aw; I don't like it; (yet, "if that were the worst thing in the world...", some quote I made up or so; it's a very irritating one)

Actually, the only times I usually shave are before church on Wednesday and Sunday.... I feel I should come to church well groomed, honoring my Father's house. Other than that, I let it grow!

honoring my Father's houseugh; you're body is Fathers house ;) so how exactly is shaving it, honering it?

I just don't feel it proper to walk into the house of God all scruffy.... Personal conviction. The way we come to church shows what we really think abou it, the reason I always dress up for church, not in jeans and in a pair of tennis shoes. Just my opinion though, no hard scripture to back it up.

I pretty much shave when it gets annoying...

I was sooo like that. I hated shaving... finally I just grew a beard and now I just have to trim it once a week (reeeal quick) and shave my neck once every other week (or right before an event where I want to look really spiffy).
My apologies to those with dysfunctional beards. ;)

Lol, we definately need a new pic of Joe ;)
Working as an accountant in an office, I don't have the choice really of looking anything other than professional every day :( On a family vacation though, I don't care too much what I look like ;)

yeh thats pretty much how i feel. if im gonna be going out somewhere nice ill shave as well. theres gotta be some special reason for me to shave.
i cant grow a beard either cuz i dont grow much hair, it'd look like i had grown half a bear and shaved the other half off. so no getting out of it that way.
wat about ur arms or legs? i know a guy at church who does, im not sure if he still does but he used to in any case
joris

never shaven arms or legs; why would you do so (except when you're in biking sport, I heard they have to shave; one more reason not to go into biking sports ;))
or if you participate in bodybuilding competitions... oh wait, we don't do that. :y10:

In reply to the mach3 thing - don't replace your blades as soon as the blue strip starts to wear a little! It's a marketing scam.

*Matt adjusts the family-size bag of type o+ dripping into his arm with a shaking hand* I prefer to use the old-fashioned strop razor myself, ya know, the type you have to sharpen yourself... it does really well, especially on my legs and armpits. Nobody in my bodybuilding club knows how I get so silky smooth, and they think all the scars are way cool. Warts have never been a problem ever since I started using it, *matt scratches an itching bandage* so it's been real helpful. Of course, having severe allergies to all the most common household molds and airborne bacteria can make it difficult to shave my neck under my chin while sneezing, but between all the coughing and sneezing and not being able to steady my hand, it often synchronizes into a routine that gets me shaved if I stay with it long enough.:chris::crazy::moron:

I use the disposable Gillette II double blade. To maintain it's sharpness I use it while I'm taking the shower and use soap foam or bubbles to make my chin slippery, and the wetness of the blades also prevents hair from filling the side of the blades. After shaving, I rinse the blades with water, this makes the blades last from months, four (4) months or more.

I have always used an electric shaver because I always worry about the possibility of cutting myself. The only downside is that it does not always give me the end result I want. (I have a tough beard that takes forever to trim!)

So has anyone here experimented with shaving their head? I've considered doing it, and wondered if anyone else had done it.

So has anyone here experimented with shaving their head? I've considered doing it, and wondered if anyone else had done it.
But I have a perfectly good head of hair. Why would I get rid of it??
I've helped shave a friend head. I would never do it myself - I know I don't have a good looking skull!
btw, the girls seem to find our thread rather interesting (http://yqnews.org/forums/showthread.php?p=32886#post32886)...
It's funny... I don't ever recall talking about how interesting their hair treatment thread was...

So how did you do it? And was he happy with the results?
Of course the girls find our threads interesting. We're interesting people, and the fact that they can't post in here absolutely drives them crazy. But seriously... like our threads aren't better than shopping or .... or... what do they talk about anyways? Who cares....? <looks at rating and waits for reds to appear>
So Joe... that brings up an interesting question... If we're not supposed to post in each others threads, are we then not supposed to give negative feedback either? <hoping hoping hoping>
lol, I got negative feedback for accidentally posting. But negative feedback just based on whether they enjoy the post? No, that shouldn't be tolerated. A girl in the fort is a silent guest and, since she is not participating in this part of the community, she should have feedback for it - especially negative! :shuriken:

I apologize for misunderstanding your statement. I kinda took it as evidence that you were spending lots of time in the Girl Talk forum, not exactly conducive to an impression of unprecedented macho-ness on your part. I wasn't exactly sure whether or not you were having tea or tupperware parties over there, I was only watching from a distance. ;)

A girl gave me a red for that post... I think it needs to be more clear that girls aren't supposed to give ratings in the fort any more than they are supposed to post in here ;)
Apparently, one of the girl's went on a rampage through this thread and docked a bunch of guys (I'd say somebody's jealous).
JMC, Andrew, Hotshot, you're points have been restored to you.
I do not think it appropriate to give negative in the other gender's section. To save me time, I'll only prosecute negative rep points given (prosecute reads "delete") Since positive doesn't cause the same damage (though it still does mess with the environment of the girls' or guys' forum), I'll leave those the same - though I'd prefer people not make those either. :y14:
