Hi, it's me; I got in :)
I'm Joris, some kid living in Holland, who came to believe about two years ago (two years and some months actually)

About a year ago or something like that I heard and read some on Branhams views, writings, and, though I don't know *very* much about that, it seems quite interesting; I guess I find sensing what is of God, what not, a bit hard still, though at least that's of God I think

uhm everyday stuff: I am 23 years old, go to school - and find I'm more interested in faith, love than in most of that school stuff

hmm; ask your questions, that'll make writing more of myself much easier ;)

Hello and welcome to the forums. As the only sane...err..:shuriken:umm... :012: person :y10: ...in here, I extend a warm hand of greeting :handshake to a fellow European :)
Now for your questions.....

How many more years at college do you have left?
Do you hate it because your course is bad or because you don't feel motivated? (the latter happened to me in my 1st and 2nd year)
How did you come across Bro Branham?
Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Is it warm or cold at the moment?
Whats the best thing about Holland?
What's the worst thing about Holland?
Would you rather study Maths or Literature?
Do you drive?
If yes, what car do you drive? If no, what car would you love to drive?
What are your plans for the rest of the year if the Lord should tarry?

nope; I only play CD
I hang out on the internet for too long, play music (worship-like songs)
Hmm hard question; as a kid it was "red", though I now don't know anymore why; however, "red" might be for His blood so then it's ok
Uhmm... that depends on my mood; at the moment I really love some Hillsong numbers, but... I love "Blessed be your name" (by matt redman)
I really like italian food, pizza's and other pasta stuff; especially pizza's
don't know too well, still got to find out; at least will be going to a few christian "festivals" - enjoying the many services and everything (now, there is one next too :yay:)

Hello and welcome to the forums. As the only sane... <snip> fellow European Does that mean European people are sane? I guess I know some who couldn't think of sane americans, though I don't think those know any of these people on the forum ;)

uhm; struggling through 3rd; after that a milestone has been completed (hmm, that means I could quit and have "something" -- or continue for two more years)
I don't feel very motivated - it's like... I have hardly any ideas about future, and I don't know how this school stuff fits in it (though I feel I am currently not capable of practically showing christian love, I'd wish at some point God could and would use me full-time to do just that, showing Him)
Uhm; where did that come from? I have a friend (one you "know" here actually - he talked me into going to this forum ;) ) who told me some about Branham, and I read some of his writing; still have a lot to read, learn, understand better
a lot brothers and sisters in Christ ;) and one older brother - who is also brother in Christ - and a sister - who is (not yet) sister in Christ; My parents do not believe yet either
nice and sunny at the moment
best? don't know; got to think about this one
maybe the fact that many people are quite critical; world is getting more self-centered it seems
hehe; uhm maybe math, maybe literature; did like math-stuff more before, but then some studies required more advanced math and I didn't like it all too well anymore -- don't really know; me being quite weird, once could have tried math, at least
only a bicycle :)
don't know... got to investigate?
don't know again :( at the moment future is some big question markby the way, why is the amoung of images limited?

ow it seems I skipped your question...
uhm I'm studying "computer science" (the science to let stupid machines pretend to be smart, without us being smart enough to let them be smart; ow they tried to teach us why it's science too)

Stuff like I don't know what I'd want with it, I at the moment feel like only wanting to be among christians, and stuff

Well.....If I'm going to be technical, I live in a sub-town of a larger town called Croydon which is part of Greater London. And the simpler version is that, I live on the outskirts of London. I came to England when I was 3 having lived in my birth country Ghana previously. I've been to a few European countries but not Holland yet. I was going to go to Rotterdam in 2004 but it didn't happen unfortunately. But I hope to go one day soon.

I'm in computer science, it's a decent enough field to be in. I like it well enough. You have to do something to keep you fed while you serve the Lord....sometimes we're blessed when those go hand in hand.

I always just want to be among Christians...

Well, it could be because the Bible says to, or I don't know, you just might want to eat. :D

NeedGod

You have to feed on the Word to help you grow in the Lord. just the same way you have to eat food to survive. otherwise we die if we dont eat this spiritual food!

joris

I agree I need to keep feeding with the Word; and maybe learn to eat more, more regular
but it wasn't about that untill you began on that, it was about doing school/work stuff (work to be able to eat?  that's not something I long for, to put it mildly)

FreeAtLast
04-26-2006, 10:19 AM
Joris, maybe you misunderstood them.

If you donīt work you donīt have money to live (eat etc.)...

If that is not what you long for, what else do you want to do in life then?

joris
04-26-2006, 10:44 AM
I have no clear views on what I do want;
living for money for work? living just to exist to work? no, that's sounded like a life I don't want at all... if that's really it , please God take me to heaven fast - not enjoying it here that much really
(ow, I feel like every day is one day longer not enjoying heaven, so it better be something great; would long for God to use me everyday, though to be honest can't see how I am usable/usefull at all; would long God to make me that usefull that no day is about getting food and all days are only about... living with Him/showing Him)

Wow! The only thing I can say is that attitude plays a very important role in our lives. If you try to maintain a positive outlook, things will improve for you.

AgapZoe
04-26-2006, 11:02 AM
Hmm,kinda agree on this one with Nick! Hey,once again,God's word not being boring to me and I trust to you too,I repeat my currently favourite verse: "seek ye first the kingdom of God,and His righteousness and all the things shall be added unto you!"
Maintaining a positive outlook is also very vital as pianoman(Nick) has put it. always try and see the world through positive eyes! and hey, have a vision..and how do you get one,by seeking God's will in your life first,He shall direct thy path if you let Him Joris. And hey,we gotta have a Little heaven down here! right ?Not one of our very own living in hell* while the rest of us are in heaven* down here! We are here for you Joris!we need to hear you testifying of Him granbting you happiness through various things! God doesn't want you to be sad! hey..you know that! He wants the best for you! He's got plans for you,for prosperity and not for failure! For happiness and not for sadness!
God bless you and I hope my point has come out in a positive way for that's my intention.

BroTrevor

Absolutely my friend!!

Everyday should be about living with the hope of heaven in our lives...with the longing that one day, we'll be with Him. It makes this life worth it... If Jesus weren't with me, if I didn't know that He wanted me here... oh my...what a worthless existance!

So, I guess the question is... HOW are you going to "live with Him/show Him" every day of your life? I try to do this every day of my life...and I have an 8-5 job. We should be showing Him wherever we are.

Spamboy is trying to use his computer talent for web projects to help the Bride of Christ and to spread the Gospel. Perhaps God would like you to do the same type of thing with your Computer Science knowledge? Perhaps there are other avenues He would like you to take?

Finding God's calling on your life is good... but to be a bum until you find out what God wants for you is to be irresponsible with the GIFTS God has given you.

I think you mentioned in this post or another that you are doing well enough at school because God has gifted you with a quick mind and the ability to learn easily. So, God has given you at least 1 talent. Will you bury it under the ground?? Or will you go invest that talent.

Perhaps this post (http://twomessageministers.blogspot.com/2006/02/neglect-not-gift.html) will be helpful

so much for showing in daily life

Or will you go invest that talent. now, I've had great troubles with that text, like you, saying hey I fail to do anything properly/if I find courage/strengh to even try -- what is different between this guy and me? but you see it's not true; if you don't see you better reread that part, as it shows that man wasn't a christian at all

Bible reading helps...

and prayer... communication with God.

he understands...even if you are bad at it. The only bad communication with God is NO communication.

I love London, coz it's just cool. But then I could be just being biased. I love it's history, museums, parks, restaurants, art galleries and shops (yay to shopping!!!) I wish it was cleaner though and some parts of london look worse than dismal.

Joris - I have come to find that these moments of uncertainty in my life are usually when God is working with me and I have no idea what's goin on . I think it's a learning curve and Bro Trev was absolutely right in saying that the only bad communication with God is no communication. Keep on keeping on, I will keep you in my prayers.
