I am having so much trouble finding a dress for graduation! I don't go to prom because it is a dance and dinner. My church does a fancy dinner for all the grads and I've been looking for a dress for a while. I was at this store in the mall, Mariposa, and I found the prettiest dress! It was a pretty brown with pink embroidered flowers at the top and at the bottom. It had a really neat waist, it was a bit of a wrap-around waist. They did not have it in my size, but I showed it to my mom so we could maybe duplicate it. But, neither of us can remeber exactly what it looked like. I really liked it! I went back to the store but they are all gone and I can not find a website for the store. I really wish I could find a good dress, or even some good ideas. I still need to look at patterns. I've been looking online for modest gowns. I found tons, but none of them are quite what I'm looking for. I really wish we had boughten that dress just to use as a model for a dress that my mom could make. It's sooooooooooooo frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate shopping and looking at racks and rows of dresses. I wish I could just find a good dress and be done!

church does a dinner, really neat, i will suggest that to our pastor. in kenya, there is usually a leavers bash at the en of the year for graduands in the whole country at a rave joint and people do such filthy things its no place for anyone, let alone a child of God!
i wish i lived near you, i would have helped make you a gown, or even come up with other designs.
i wonder if our pastor will be for the idea, its a brilliant idea.
wow, thanks for this thread, its like the nicest idea ever
God Bless Your pastor for such a good idea and continue using him

Thanks! I think it's a neat idea too. It is nice because sometimes people can feel left out when school does a formal dinner and you don't get to participate because it's not a good place to go. I really appreciate my pastor! He's the best! (Everyone says that about their pastor, I know.:)) It's fun to dress up once or twice in your life. I don't normally like dressing up, but for graduation it's fun! It's just the stress of finding a dress!

yeah, i know. we used to dress up formally in high school for many occasions. i was in a formally english school and some of the traditions didnt die out. so we got dinners where we could dress up. but i wasnt all saved then, so i am not proud of it. there was usually a dance after, and although it was an all girls school, well, it wasnt right still!
now i want a dinner where we will play good old Christian music, dress pretty and listen to the Word abit..in advice form..although i wouldnt mind a short..or even long sermon. but i am sure the rest might object!
wow, i think i am going to make a two piece attire for a party just for fn...and to keep me hopeful that the pastr will agree!
oh my, i am making all kinds of plans, pray for me that the pastor agrees!
yeah, everyone says their pastors are the best! mine is.
you know, our pastor told us that God give people different pastors who know how to deal with different problems differently
All are in the word, but the characters of the people in that area determine what pastor God gives them
so, all pastors are the best!

please let us know if you find a nice gown. i have some designs i got from the web and they are real nice. do you know how to make dresses without patterns. coz if you do then your work will be real simple, just get a good design from the web, cut out a patern piece for yourself(or if you are as lazy as i am, just measure on the material).
its really more interesting to make yoursel clothes, coz you can combine many different designs from various designers and make very delightul dresses and gowns.

I would appreciate any help! I am going to go to a couple bridal shops to look for a dress, but I'm worried! I found the style that I really like, but the dress was black and white. The original one that I liked was brown and pink. So, it would be neat if I could find one!

i am thinking you want to buy one right? uuuh, if not, just take the design for the black and white one and sew it out in the colors you want. if i see a dress i like on someone or in a store, i pluck my notebook from my bag and draw away. i think its embarrasing for others though.
hehehe! but what is a girl to do?
my machine got spoilt. boohoohoo! but i hope it will be working by 1st may.
the pastor is taking all the officials for camp out to a place called Mamba village for an appreciation lunch. am so excited coz it will be a day spent with believers and also coz i will get to spend the day with a certain someone. he was usher at camp and 'father'

Our church has a youth banquet, every year, that is pretty much, the substitute of the prom. For my dress, last year, I went to second-hand shops, found a dress that wouldn't take too much altering, and had a friend fix it up. I only spent 2 dollars, and came away with quite a nice dress! just an idea...

That's a good idea! I have been looking, but no luck so far.

a skirt would be easier to alter too. so you could get a nice skirt and find a good top to go with it!
Although it might be harder to get a skirt which is pretty to go with a top.

Have you tried Beautifully modest? www.beautifullymodest.com I believe that is it. Also, www.hannahlise.com has a link to a website with bridal dresses that also have some bridesmaids dresses.
Good luck with finding a dress.

Hey, for my graduation I don't need anything too fancy. Since the girls wear white robes, the girls also have to wear a white outfit underneith. I bought the prettiest white skirt, and I still have to find a cute top to go with it. And shoes, and possibly some accessories. Sometimes being a girl can be so rough! haha Good luck finding a dress!! :) Lord bless!

we never have graduation proms here except for the fancy schools which teach american or british system, so i never needed to dress up at all. we had a small party at school after high school and some nice girl gave me an old evening dress of hers to use. of course i wasnt really deep in theWord then so it wasnt exactly decent.
i wish i could go to a dress up party for believers. i am still waiting to suggest it to our pastor. he recently had an operation to remove a growth at the back of his head and he is recovering. i dont want to disturb him at this time.

I found a nice pattern and material and my mom made it. I'll post the picture when I get the chance. The dress is for my church grad. At school, we just have to wear something nice under our gowns, but it's a formal dinner for the church grad.

Hey, the evening WAS wonderful! I was also a part of the same one as BabyRuth, and it could not have been better.
I think my picture shows up here somewhere of what I sorta looked like....green, green and more green with pink highlights wherever possible. (Shoes, shirt, and skirt overlay)
I had a seamstress in our church make my three-piece and having a three-piece was the best decision I think. Now I can match any of the pieces with any of my other 10 formal pieces and have an instant new formal outfit!!!
already bought

I don't completly agree. Sure they deal with things maybe differntly but I think the foundation for any dission should be the Bible and the message. One thing I find is wierd (not puting you down or any thing) that you have to ask your paster if you can make a two peice outfit???? I don't get it. Like I don't think there is any place where the Bible or the Message says what we can wear as weather two pieces or only one.
Dose he tell you what you can and can't do??
I really don't mean to put you down or even your paster
Also not every paster is in the word not completly. (Not puting any body down) Even in the relms of the message they arn't always completly on the Word. Thats why it is vary important to get into the message your self and see what Brother Branham the profet said. I like what Brother Billy Paul said "God dosen't make mistakes and neather do His profets. I believe with every thing thats with in that EVERY WORD BROTHER BRANHAM SAID IS THE TRUTH.
