What? 3K for a paintball gun......waste not, want not!
It has come to my attention that there is a question about "who pays the bill?" regarding music. It is written in the scriptures that the singers were suppose to recieve a portion of the tithes. I believe in the 5 fold ministry and I believe that they should receive a portion of those tithes and offerings that is gathered in the churches ....why not the singers? We wouldn't expect our evangelists or missionaries to go out to minister on their own without financial support would we? So the question is, why should our singers have to sell their music to pay their expenses and support their own ministry? Now I understand there are those who "work" to help cover the costs of their ministries. As a matter of fact, Paul in the scriptures said he was a tent maker to help cover his costs even though he had every right to the tithes and offerings. (I Cor 9:14) Perhaps the reality check here is that people don't give as they should. Spending their money on "other things." Didn't Brother Branham say that giving tithes and offerings is part of our Christian walk? (God Misunderstood 24 July '61) If music is a "ministry" then it should be given free of charge and supported by the churches. Oh, my.....give 3K to the church????? Oh my, some believers do have their music on the web for free...... freely recieve (from the Lord) freely give???? Something to think about.

Hmm you made a very good point. I am not going to share any comments on it because i want to see what everyone else says first (plus I am not sure yet!):)

I would think that because giving the money is a personal sacrifice. It is easier to see the 3K as an investment, and you just converted your money, not really losing it. But when you give the 3K to the church, you won't see it anymore, which I don't feel is true.
When you give money to the Lord, you are "investing it" in the church and His works. Perhaps if people want to see the church grow, maybe they should start "investing" more in the church.
Also, the Lord loves a cheerful giver, and whom the Lord loves, He chastens...Oops, heh heh. :D Wrong verse. LOL :D
II CORINTHIANS 9:6-7
6 ¶ But this [I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
I will let you take it from there.

So the question is, why should our singers have to sell their music to pay their expenses and support their own ministry?
so I should start charging my church for web services along with other believers? where does it end? who gets "paid" and who doesn't? where is the "labor of love"? ( I stay up till 1 - 2 am almost every night working on a project for the Bride - and once completed I don't plan on charging for the use of the site.... )

Yes, none of us give enough and Yes some of us buy toys.
See Malachi :
Mal 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Mal 3:9 Ye [are] cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, [even] this whole nation.
Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

people would rather spend money on other things but they have a hard time spending it on God. i am just from reading sth similar to this on Blessed's site. whew, is God talking to me? Speak Lord, i am listening.

I think you did misunderstand the original post spamboy... they weren't saying churches should just pay musicians because they play some music on the side... but if someone feels led to be a full-time musician, with recording studios and all, then it was suggested that maybe people should give extra offerings to the church, and the church support the musicians, so that everyone can be blest, even those who don't have money. (Wow, that was a run-on sentence....) In the Bible, the singers for the tabernacle got a piece of the offerings, if I'm not mistaken...
And besides, that way everyone could get a charitable deduction on their tax return, and the government could inderectly be helping to support it too ;)
