I play airsoft with some of the guys at my church and was wondering ifanyone here plays paintball or airsoft?

Check out my dream gun (http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/product/product_detail.jsp?prodID=15061). :ok:

I have played paintball once.

It was really cool.

I will not allow myself to spend millions of dollars on it tho. There are other more important things.

That being said, were I single, living at home, with a paid for car... I'd probably be all over it.

The lure of airsoft is that it's a lot cheaper to get a good gun. Even more so, the ammo is cheaper. With paintball, it's easy to go through 50 bucks of ammo in one day.

I've played paintball, but not airsoft. Care to explain the differences?

JoeC
03-16-2006, 01:33 PM
Essentially, the difference is in the ammo. Airsoft shoots 6mm plastic pellets that weigh anywhere from .12g - .3g.

The ammo is cheaper and the guns are less expensive.

my brothers brother in law owns alot of paint ball equipment and a bro from our church has alot of farm land that we can play on. So every now and then we will go play PB in this wooded area of the land. there is even some old farm combines there and we will put ppl in the top like a gun turret and we will play a game of storm the combine :D

What kinda gun do you but in the combine?

Christian-Samurai
03-17-2006, 11:44 AM
hmm wonder if he ment "put" in the combine, well we just used the regular paintball guns and sat up there waiting for the rush then we start shooting :D

JoeC

Paintball rocks. I recently had one of the finest rigs that money could buy, but I sold it cause I don't know anyone else that plays. :( Airsoft looks pretty cool though, I have to admit it looks pretty fun if nothing else.

JoeC
03-20-2006, 02:51 PM
Matt, what gun did you have?

JMC_785
03-24-2006, 02:59 AM
I had a Tippman 98 Custom w/ response trigger, 12 bps electronic hopper, 32 Degrees Carbon Fiber 14" Barrel, remote air kit, 20 oz. tanks and tankpak, and my mask was a JG special make, w/ antifog and fan kit. It was top of the line when I bought it. (About two years ago.)

BroTrevor
03-24-2006, 09:53 AM
Wow... all that for a paintball gun.

incredible...

JoeC
03-24-2006, 11:15 AM
wow... sounds like you were serious.

NoahL

Sounds like a lot of money.... ouch....

JoeC

Now days they have gun makers whose guns start at 3K...

BroTrevor
03-24-2006, 11:39 PM
Who on earth would spend 3K for a paintball gun.

There's people starving in this world....and people pay 3K for a paintball gun.

<shakes head>

NoahL
03-25-2006, 12:43 PM
I don't think the people who pay 3K for a paintball gun really think about the people who are starving... or that they care.

BroTrevor
03-25-2006, 01:44 PM
I don't think the people who pay 3K for a paintball gun really think about the people who are starving... or that they care.

You have a point, but it's still a cryin' shame.

JoeC
03-25-2006, 04:10 PM
I don't think the people who pay 3K for a paintball gun really think about the people who are starving... or that they care.

But the question is would they be putting any of that 3K towards the poor if they didn't buy the gun? Most of us wouldn't. We'd find smaller things to buy with the $3,000.

What about those who spend an extra 3K on a car to get some unneeded but "nice" conveniences.?

I just don't see that as being a valid argument.

Christian-Samurai
03-25-2006, 06:07 PM
actually if they didnt pay out 3k in one shot but bought each part over time and that adds up to 3k i could see it, if was an all out shot I would say that was a mite extreme if you bought it like that then turned out most of the stuff you got was worthless youd be feeling pretty stupid right about then lol

BroTrevor
03-25-2006, 08:19 PM
I just don't see that as being a valid argument.

I do. Since when was our money ours? 3K for a gun? 3K for "nice conveniences?"

3K for a gun is not being a good steward of God's money in my mind.

JoeC
03-26-2006, 06:49 PM
Maybe the people who pay 3K for a gun pay their tithes, support missions, and even give money to a third-world child once a month. Would you still say that 3K for a gun is so wrong? I wouldn't do it, but some of us might spend that much on a real gun - or some other hobby we really enjoy.

I just don't see calling someone down for buying themselves something nice is a just thing to do. I know brothers in this Message who own a Lexus or a Mercedes - and they go all out for God. Without having any more facts than "oh, the guy splurged a little", we can't make a just judgement of anyone.

BroTrevor
03-27-2006, 11:10 AM
Ok... I guess I get where you're coming from.

I wasn't specifically calling anyone down. Nor was I making a judgement of anyone, whether just or injust.

I was more crying against the American tendency to laugh, love, and spend!

I don't get spending 3K for something that frivolous. Maybe it's just me...but I think there is a scripture here we can apply.

ACTS 4:32 - 35
32 ¶ And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Something to think on anyway. If the Holy Ghost in the lives of the early Christians made them act in that way...should it do differently for us just because we are in a different country or a different age?

JoeC
03-27-2006, 04:28 PM
I wonder what they did after they sold their houses...

BroTrevor
03-27-2006, 04:42 PM
I often wondered if it was talking about "extra" houses. Vacation homes and such.

I really don't know...but it certainly is something to think on.

I'm sorry if I'm "hijacking" the thread but this question seems appropiate here --
The other day I read something about us needing to break with the world and live for God -- with hints that "normal" things that are not pure should leave our lives
now, on of those things seems to be, violence in television/movies, and games; how should one see what is wrong to play as a game?
(I tend to think much of 3d stuff isn't too good, but I find I have some (sortof silly) strategy game which is fun but it's about a middleaged-battle too)

what is your opinion on this?

(oh, maybe those people asked around and found some place of other christians that felt okay with them joining their place? now imagine that happening today)

HotShot53
04-24-2006, 12:38 AM
strategy game which is fun but it's about a middleaged-battle

That wouldn't happen be one of the Age of Empire series games? Cause they are the best strategy games out there...

I agree that most of the 3-d stuff is just too graphic to really be good... I think that in moderation, some strategy type games are ok.... though that's just my opinion.

maybe should find out if I could try Age of Empire or so sometime

Yeah, I got AoE 3 but the small, unchangeable map size makes it hard to get a really good game going... AoE 2 Conquerers was the best strategy game ever, in my opinion.

Actually, AoE 2: Conquerors is an old enough game that it works fine on dial-up ;) When I used to play with some friends online, half of them had dial-up.

I play airsoft with some of the guys at my church and was wondering ifanyone here plays paintball or airsoft?

Check out my dream gun (http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/product/product_detail.jsp?prodID=15061). :ok:
So I went ahead a bought the dream gun at our local Dunham's. Without the silencer. Without the rail mount. It was on a need to have basis. I've decided that I need the silencer in order to give me accuracy and more power so I can use .25g bbs instead of .20g bbs - giving me more accuracy. Thank goodness for a thirty day return policy!

So, here's my dilemma. All the out of country places are really expensive to buy from because of shipping. I ant to buy the gun as a kit, not piece meal (all-ready assembled, a LOT cheaper). BUT! I can only find two american retailers that offer the gun. AND! The first is undergoing a physical move and will not accept orders (http://co2airsoft.com/sigma.html) while the second is out of stock (http://www.performanceairsoft.com/~performa/product_info.php?products_id=157&osCsid=875b967e6f496d343e975b0363e1df9e) (http://www.performanceairsoft.com/%7Eperforma/product_info.php?products_id=157&osCsid=875b967e6f496d343e975b0363e1df9e%29).
Gaah! Please pray for me.

Lol, nice gun.... never played airsoft before, is it played similar to paintball?

JoeC
08-16-2006, 10:11 AM
A lot of the strategy is the same, but it just requires honesty as getting hit isn't as evident with plastic bbs as it is with paint. Oh, and the guns and the ammo are WAAAY cheaper.

NoahL
08-16-2006, 10:35 AM
So how hard do they shoot? Seems like if you were wearing thick clothing you might not realize you got hit.

JoeC
08-16-2006, 05:44 PM
A high end pistol will shoot about 400 ft per second - enough to draw blood if shot from arm's length. However, there are times where the bullets hit and you aren't sure if they really hit you.

Christian-Samurai

I have seen them and personally I think the airsoft guns look better than the paintball ones. now while you do get alot more ammo for a lesser price you also waste alot more ammo with this too lol

the P90's just too cool for words.

Too bad it looks more like a tool than a gun.

NoahL
09-12-2006, 02:19 PM
I think it looks like an assault rifle... but that's probably because I've seen it on Ghost Recon...

Nate
09-12-2006, 02:30 PM
It's a sub machine gun. The real P90 is made up of mostly plastics and composits. It weights about 3 kg fully loaded, and fires 900 rounds a minute. It's magazines are 50 rounds each, and it's got a 200 meter effective range.
It's 5.7x28mm rounds look like scaled down 5.56 NATO rounds. It was made to pierce armor at a 50-100 meter range.

This gun is scary.

Yeah i am new on here and noticed a thing on paintball under "War Games". Paintball is not a war game or imitation combat it is a sport, with "markers" not guns. (Sorry pet peeves)

I am a hard core paintballer, I have a SmartsParts Ion w/vision, 68ci 4500 Crossfire CA Tank, Evolution Blimp Hopper 17 bps. Freak barrel set. With custom elbow. with a GEN X Regulator.

Serious cash on the "beast" but i ebayed it so i got it for a steal. Actually i think it was a stolen gun because the guy knew nothing about the gun, but hey what you don't know can't hurt you.
