Well, I thought I'd play my hand at starting a new thread and see how it goes.
Does anyone on here ever scrapbook? ME? I love to scrapbook. I just dont seem to have enough time to do it. Wish I had more, but you know how it is with trying to be a very good stay at home mommy, keeping up with 2 very active boys, keeping the house clean and food on the table...
SO fill me in ...

What is scrapbooking?

ok...so i guess that most people probably aren't familiar with this so i'll explain.
Scrapbooking is another name for "fancy photo albums." Basically instead of putting all your pictures in a photo album you purchase a "scrapbook" at the store. You put the pictures on either 12x12 pages or 8x11 pages (can get smaller albums too) and then you can decorate the pages with the pictures on it. You "journal" about the pictures so that when you are flipping thru the ablum you will always remember what was going on with the pictures instead of writing on the backs of your picture where you cant see it.
Here's a link to Creative Memories which is a well know supplier around here. This will give you the general idea of what im talking about. Its better if you see it.
http://www.creativememories.com/
Be sure to click on the New Layouts and from there you can see several diffent types of pages.
Enjoy and let me know what you think.

thanks for explaining Sis. Trev.
I checked out the side. Really neat idea.
In fact I have done this before, but without a special scrapbook, just a normal photo-album. I just decorated it nicely and wrote some stuff next to the pics! I love it. But it takes a lot of time.

yes it does take a lot of time...but i love it. Theres a sister down here who is a consultant of Creative Memories and she has classes at her house twice a month. I usually try and go once so I can get in my "alone, girl time". I always have a blast.

I've always wondered what a scrap book was. I have done that with normal photo albums but they don't give you enough room to be creative. I think I've found a new hobby to add to my knitting :yay: Thank u SisTrev :)

I have been scapbooking for years now, and I love it. I love pictures and photography - the best moments frozen in time... whenever I travel I always have my camera in hand taking pictures of anything that's interesting. I particularly love architecture. I realized I had so much pictures and little things that reminded me of the different places that I've been and they were just taking up space so I began to organize them into scapbooks. They're wonderful for organizing memories!

I love scrapbooking and have also been doing it for years. I am currently working on my trip to Spain/Portugal/Morocco. It has taken me over a year. We took a lot of pictures:) . I find that it makes the pictures more interesting and if you aren't there to explain the pictures, people will be able to understand where you are and what you are doing.

Hello and Welcome Alemap!
You have been to Spain/Portugal/Morocco??? Wow, you're really lucky! I would love to see those places someday. I would also love to visit New Zealand and Brazil. It's nice to see a fellow Canadian on here, let's me know I'm not the only one :) I am trying to finish one of our last summer trip to the east coast (Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and P.E.I)...really beautiful out there, ever been??

Yeah I went there in 2003.I liked Portugal the best. Morocco was very interesting, very different then anything I had seen before. This year I went to Bali,Indonesia and Japan. Bali was really nice, very hot. Humidity was 98% one day. I would also really love to go to New Zealand/Australia. That is the #1 spot I would like to go. I have only been as far as Ontario, in Canada. I would love to go to the east coast, especially PEI. Have you ever been out west?

I love scrapbooking!
I haven't done much over the last year or so, because of working full time. But in 2005 I almost completed an album, with all my 2005 photos. There are only a couple of pages left to do now, and I want to have it done soon.
Then I want to work on our trip to Western Australia. There's 1000's of photos!
After that, I want to do my trip to New Zealand.
I know, not quite as exciting as Europe. I want to go there one day, too, so that I can do an album on it!

No I have never been out west, though I hear it is very lovely. Did you visit Niagara Falls when you came to Ontario?? That's where I live, Lol. We have a few girls in our church that came from out west, Sask. I think, and also a family that moved from out west and now they are permenant in our congregation...really nice ppl. I think there is suppose to be a group in New Zealand believing this Word, it would be nice to go to visit. Have you lived out west all your life?

You've been to New Zealand? What's it like? We were thinking of planning a trip to Europe for later in the summer. I'm not sure yet though, only just a thought so far...how wonderful that would be.
Has anyone ever been anywhere topical recently?... the last tropical place I've been to was Cuba, and the Dominican Rep. It would be nice to visit Barbados some day.

Yep, I visited Niagara Falls. It is soooooooooooo beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to live in Alberta, that's where I was born, now I live in Washington, very close to the border. You were talking to me, right? If not, oh well, now you know about me too!

New Zealand is BEAUTIFUL. I'd heard it so many times that it was nice, but wasn't too convinced until I actually went there.
I didn't like the north island so much, but the south is beautiful. Especially Nelson, where the sun never stops shining! I've been twice now, and want to go back. Seriously, I could live there!
As for anywhere tropical, I was up in Queensland a few years ago. Would like to go back there, too.
Argh... so many places to go, so little time & money!

Yes we visted Niagara falls. We went to a church in Toronto and in Petrolia. There are churches in New Zealand. We have had a number of vistors from there over the past few years. I have lived in Alberta my whole life. We have moved around in it, but never out of Alberta.

Yah there is.
SisTrev, what sort of scrapbooking do you do? Do you use Creative Memories products? I've been to a few CM workshops, and quite like their way of scrapbooking, simple, getting the photos and story in. But I aren't so strict about using only CM products!
Some other methods have more embelishments than photos, and I think this takes away from the main thing.
Would love to see some of your work sometime!

mostly i do use the creative memories style and stuff...but they can be kinda spendy too so i've gotten to where i buy stickers and books at other places..
As for seeing some of my work...if i can figure out how to show you...then you're welcome to it.

You know what I have found to be really nice? Everytime we go on a trip I try to pick a flower (usually they're wild) and then put it in between a book I'm carrying. By the time you arrive home, the flower is dried and pressed (paper thin)... then I would put in into the scrapbook, along with photos of that trip.
....just a little something I do that I thought I would share :)

i agree...in my sons' scrapbooks I've kept a llittle of their hair from their first haircuts as well as before and after pictures. I look back now and think, "wow...they were so little."

he just has some peach fuzz on top and like a balding man....
a little thicker around around the back haha

how old is your son hiya? My boys both had their first hair cuts at around 14 months. Even then they didnt have much...mostly just curling around the ears and at the nape of the neck. But my husband hated the curls and they just had to go. I personally thought they were cute. And once they get that first haircut they just look so grown up. Baby look is gone. :012:
David will be 3months the 15th, I think his hair is going to curl to.
My husbands starts to curl around his ears then it's time for a hair cut for him lol

Ah, good to know that I aren't the only one that collects brochures from everywhere! I usually end up with that many, that I don't know what to do with them. And I have more than enough photos to tell about a place, without including brochures as well! So in the end, I just don't know what to do with them.
But guess what... while I was in Dubbo, I got 4 packs of scrapbooking paper! Each have 25 sheets, and were only about $3 each. Then they had a 20% off sale, so I got 100 sheets of really nice paper for just over $10! :yay:
