i went to a salon to get my hair braided. after they finished, they chopped off the ends(long chunks) when i wasnt looking and now my hair is so short it looks like a too short bob cut. and what more, they burnt the ends so its so bad. aaaarrrrgggghhhh! and the main aim of getting it braided was to enable it to lengthen and strengthen

I asked this before on the girly-girl thread.
Did they actually cut of your real hair or only your extensions?
if it was just the artificial hair you can relax my dear. This is not your glory!
If it was your real hair I am very sorry to hear that.
If Iīd ever go to a saloon I would make real sure that my hair was not to be trimmed or cut - by no means!

I am not sure i understand how that happend namwacha?
If you went to get your hair braided, then what are they doing with a scissors and did you not realise what they were doing.

they cut off my real hair. i wasnt seeing what they were doing as they did not seat me next to a mirror. now my hair is real short and i am not going anywhere near that salon ever again. like ever ever. the basically just cut off the whole base, braids plus lots of my hair!

thought about it again.
how could someone actually cut off your hair without you noticing it? Didnīt you feel it or see the scissors? even without a mirror around.
no doubt you know how it feels if somebody is braiding your hair - and if they were doing something else, you would ask: what are you doing? dont you reckon? and didnt you hear the sound of the scissors and felt it being cut off?
not to realize that until everything was chopped off you must have been asleep like Samson. otherwise you should have noticed after the first cut what they were doing...

I was thinking the same thing freeatlast, a hair dresser tried that on me once and i heard the first snip and fixed her good and proper. I cannot understand how someone can cut off all your hair and you do not know.

no they did not cut off all of my hair, they cut off the ends, and they cut off quite a bit. no i did not feel it being cut off until it was too late. i know it sounds funny but i was not paying attention and so i did not notice til i had to pay and leave. then she brought the mirror and i was all in pieces.

Try not to worry too much about it, namwacha. God knows you didn't do it on purpose :)

Namwacha, how can they cut your hair so short until it looks like a too short bob cut without you noticing??
And how can they even burn the ends without you noticing??
I donīt get it!!!

my dears, my hair wasnt long to begin with. it barely touched the back of my neck where it connects with my back even from the start. not that i cut it, it just doesnt grow that fast. thats the kind of hair i have. well, so you see, when they cut off an inch or even a centimetre of it, it looks like a bob cut. do you all get it now?:) so thats why its so frustrating coz it doesnt grow fast so i might be stuck with short hair for years.

namwacha sorry about what happened. Girl, to avoid them cutting your hair next time, make sure you tell the hairdresser that you want your braids to be shaped about 3 to 4 inches past the lenghth of your natural hair. sometimes these hairdressers think that they can do whatever they want to our hair. the same thing happened to a lady that i work with. she went to get her split ends cut but the hairdresser managed to cut a least 50cm of her hair. she's an unbeliever but she was soooo angry to loose so much of her hair so i can understand your point very well. just pray that God gives your hair a speedy growth.

While I was at state, we went to bed pretty late each night, so I was still sleeping while another girl in my room was blow-drying her hair. She started screaming and it woke me up. I thought she had just stubbed her toe or something, but I looked at the carpet, without my glasses on, and saw the hair dryer glowing orange and it looked like the whole carpet was on fire. I quickly jumped out of bed and put my glasses on. I saw it was only the hair dryer, but I was really scared and told another girl to go get our teacher. Friend 1 was still screaming and friend 3 finally unplugged the hair dryer. I was still half asleep and only knew to tell them not to put water on it. Friend 1 was histerical for a while. She told us that the hair dryer had sparks explode from it onto her hair. Luckily her hair was fine, but she was really scared, and so was I. She said she isn't going to use a hair dryer again for a really long time.

Aww, Namwacha, that is the saddest thing to hear, about your hair. :( I've always thought it would be neat to go to a stylist, but I was always afraid that they would cut my hair. So I never did. Not to mention, I don't have the money to do it. And I think you're right...I wouldn't go back there again if I were you.
That's the safest thing to do. :)

i wish i could come over those sides and do your hair. i am learning how to braid hair but i have been told caucasian hair is harder to braid as its so soft.

for my sister's wedding I got my hair perfishoaly (can't really spell) curled and she didn't cut any thing. My Oldest sister has been going there for a few years now and This hair dresser would not cut it ontill asked to.
But here's a sugestion. Why don't you before you start letting them work on your hair tell them not to cut it and if they do there will be cosiquinces that should make them stop.
