Today I noticed something. In the "I wish I had but sorry the next post will make it worthless to you" thread (or whatever it's named) I noticed Joe said the following...

Granted. But now his posts are so witty they're over your head.

I wish collegegirl could spell (see above).

SO what? you ask? I'm so glad you asked... I bring you...

<exillerating theme music>

"Thread display mode"

What's that you ask? And how does that have anything to do with the above quote from Fearless Leader JoeC? I'll tell you. JoeC said "(see above)" Yet, when I looked above, there was no post by collegegirl in which she misspelled anything, rather, it was below!!

Anyhoo... the point I'm trying to make is that you can change how your threads are displayed. Go ahead and try this yourself. Open a new browser window (THE BLUE "E" unless your a FF user). Log into the forums, and no go to "USER CP" (top left hand side there)

Ok, now click "Edit Options" (4th one down on the left)

Now scroll down and you see things like "visible post elements". Don't like avatars? (shocking!) Well, good thing you can turn them off. Don't like sigs you don't understand? You can turn those off to. I like what it says about that...pretty funny stuff...

"You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts."

Hilarious...anyhoo...back on topic...

scroll down 1 more from there and you see "Thread display mode"

I have chose to set mine to "linear - Newest First" Since I check the forums rather regularly, I only see 2 or 3 posts that are new normally. With it set this way, the newest messages are first...the older ones are BELOW. I don't have to start at the beginning of the thread and then click the most recent page number.

Anyhow, I leave it to you to have fun with your own settings and make it the way you like it. Admittedly it took an hour or so to get used to "newest first" but now I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hopefully you all enjoyed this fine tutorial. It's amazing the stuff that's in User CP if you just go there and look at what's there.

Way to contribute to the forums! I knew you could do that, but I didn't know how. I personally don't like it, but my admin account has been set up that way and now I can reset it. Yay!

Bro Trevor, is it possible to erase posts or correct typing mistakes that was done on previous posts? I made a lot and it makes me feel bad.

You can ask one of the Moderators to do it for you:

Joe
Blessed
Hotshot
Collegegirl

You can correct errors a short while after you have posted...i don' think like the day after.

You can only correct your own errors or delete your own threads for 5 minutes after you post. If you want anything changed after that, ask a moderator, and we will change it for you.

Actually, we bumped the limit up to thirty minutes.

Oh, ok, I think that's better :) Being a mod and not having a time limit, it didn't affect me, so I didn't know that...

It's the main benefit that I've seen so far ;)
