After some thought and discussion with my friend I have decided to re-join the forum. There had been some confusion, which is why I briefly quit. It has been explained by my friend and I understand it now, so here I am!

PianoMan79
02-24-2006, 12:39 PM
I have been playing piano for eight years.
I have not played for my church, but have for my piano teacher's.
not sure (I am new to the area and this particular church)
I have never been out of the country (unless you count crossing to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls).
My favorite place to visit is my aunt's house because there is always great food! (she is a good cook)
Yes, I have one older brother.
My favorite color is blue.
It depends who you ask.
I suppose I like my nose (thought I'd throw some poetry in there!).
I have to agree with everyone else on this one. Definitely the pinky
shoe size = 9
black shoes
The microwave is my friend! I would like to learn to cook some day though.
I have never attempted to grill anything, but I love a nice steak every once in a while.
There are so many of them to choose from!
I heard about YQ through a friend.
My main expectations are to find a job, that special someone, and grow stronger in my faith.Nick

Hello Nick,
You crossed the Canadian side of the border (Niagara Falls)??? That's right where I live! That would have been weird if I seen you and didn't even know who you were.
Bye for now, and welcome back!

Hope you'll find the forum a blessing. Now to add my questions to the fray
If you could travel any where in the world where would you go?
what animal would you be?
Burger or Pizza?
chicken or turkey?
Parker Pen or Papermate?
Do you like your toes?
what's the strangest dream you've ever had?

Were you born blind or did you become so later in life?
Do you have a seeing eye dog?
We had a guest speaker at my school for chapel one time who was blind and plays the piano extremely well. He was really cool. He had a seeing eye dog named Topaz for whom he had composed a song. *grin*
How did you become interested in playing piano?
PianoMan79
02-25-2006, 07:19 PM
I have been blind since birth. Many people ask me if it is difficult without the ability to see; but, since I have never had that, it does not really bother me much. I don't use my blindness as an excuse or try to create obstacles for myself. I am the type of person that likes to try new and different things, and work hard at what I do.
How did I become interested in piano? Well, I sang in choir in high school. By my junior year I knew I wanted to be a music major in college - and I have always tried to play songs I would hear on the radio or at church - so I convinced my parents to pay for piano lessons! Now I have a beautiful baby grand that really sounds awesome!

great sig Pianoman..
It reminds of a phrase I saw once. "Christ Is Life, the rest are details."
I envy everyone that could play the piano from the heart. I consider it one of the best instruments that could express to and from the soul.

It's hard enough for me to play music while reading it, let alone just playing what I hear... one of the violinists in our orchestra is blind, and he's a pretty good musician too.
Do you have a seeing eye dog, or have you considered getting one?
How do you read stuff online?
PianoMan79
02-26-2006, 06:50 PM
At present I use a cane to get around, although I may consider a dog down the road. To read things on the computer I use a screenreader called JAWS for Windows. It does fairly well reading most webpages and documents.

Welcome to the site. If you hadn't said anything about being blind, I would have never guessed. Many great musicians had some sort of physical problem. Fanny Crosby was blind, and Beethoven was deaf later on in life. One of my favorite stories is about another well-known person, Jonni Erickson Todda, (I believe that is how you spell it), she sings, and she is a Quadriplegic, and she also draws these Incredible pictures.
You made this comment:
I have been blind since birth. Many people ask me if it is difficult without the ability to see; but, since I have never had that, it does not really bother me much.
People ask me similar questions about the Television. I never had one, so I don't miss it.

What I understand about your faith? Well, I am open to learning more about it, of course. I know that you believe in the Bible and it's teachings, but that is all I know
Well, I can start off with a brief intro I guess. I've been thinking about this and didn't want to not take the opportunity to tell you a little more.
I can safely say that we all believe the Bible 100%. It is God's Word that is our absolute. As Paul said in Galatians 1:8 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." So we don't take any mans word or any churches word above what the Bible says.
Now if you begin to read the Bible one can't help but notice how God led his people through every age. God always led his people through a prophet. Noah, Moses, Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Paul. All of these men led God's people.
Then if you read Malachi 4:5,6
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
You will note that we have an open prophecy to be fulfilled about the return of Elijah the prophet.
This is what we believe William Branham is the fullfillment of. In 1933 as he was baptising on the banks of the Ohio river, a light appeared over him, and the people heard a voice that proclaimed "As John the baptist was sent to forerun the first coming of the Lord, so will your message forerun the second coming of the Lord." This appears to coincide with Malachi 4:5.
Then you turn to the scripture again to see if this man was vindicated a prophet. How do we tell if someone is a prophet or not by scripture?
DEUTERONOMY 18:18 - 19
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
So if what he says in the name of the Lord comes to pass we need to listen to Him.
conversely...
DEUTERONOMY 18:22
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
We don't have to listen if the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord and it does not comes to pass.
Everytime Bro Branham said something in the name of the Lord, it came to pass. He could tell the secrets of the hearts, he could tell you your name, where you lived, what was wrong with you, and many things. It was always true...and if he said something, it always came to pass that way.
So we know he was a true prophet according to the Word. He stayed with the Word of God, preached the same gospel Paul preached, and what he said came to pass.
So much of our fellowship is based upon the Word of God, and the leading and teaching of the prophet of God for our day, whom we believe to be William Branham.
Some always ask, if I have the Bible, why do I need Bro Branham. My usual reply is...if you were in Noah's day...you had best follow Noah into the ark, or else be able to swim for 100 plus days.
I think it would be great if you could read the Life Story and "How the angel came to me and his commission" book. Could I send you one so you could read it, and then you'd have a real good idea of what we believe.
This was a short run down, there's much more we could get into, but I think it'd be the best for you to hear some of it for yourself!

Great post Bro Trevor! Nick, I pray that the Lord will allow you to prayerfully study and consider what He has done for us in this last age. The most important thing is to be sure we have an intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ!
When I read your post about being blind and being able to play the piano, I couldn't help but think of a Christian pianist named Gordon Mote. Gordon was born blind and today is one of Nashville's most accomplished studio musicians. You can hear samples of his music at www.gordonmote.com (http://www.gordonmote.com)
When we yield our gift to Him, He can use us in ways that we can't even imagine.
May the Lord richly bless you!
