Greetings is a perfectly acceptable expression of welcome. It's only because of recent pop culture influences that it has an inhuman feel to it.

Liberate the word GREETINGS!!!

actaully Eugene coined the phrase. imho.

"Greetings and Salutations I am Eugene Meltzner."

I know a lady who always answers the phone with "Greetings." It sounds so sweet and friendly when she says it. It could have something to do with the cheerful tone in her voice, which would be very difficult to communicate though type.

Chat and such has a tendency to come across differently than one intends because everyone puts their own interpretation on what you said and how it was said.

Yeah, that is one problem with stuff online... the intonation of what you are saying can easily got lost.... which is why I probably overuse the ;) just to make sure people know what tone I'm saying it in...

I always have to have foods at certain times... cereal is breakfast only, sandwiches are lunch only (unless we are traveling somewhere), steak is dinner only... etc

And no matter when I wake up, I have to eat breakfast... even if it is at noon.
