No, I'm not getting married. HAHA. Went wedding dress shopping with my brother's fiance and we had a blast! So now it's all on my mind, and what girl doesn't like talking about weddings. I thought this could be an interesting thread. :bouncie:
Anyway, the coolest dress she tried on was a very "princessy" one. HUGE ballroom skirt with lots of sparkly beads and all swooshy and just really pretty. Another cool one had different colored flowers embroidered on the skirt and top. So that was different, and pretty cool too.
It's funny how other shoppers give their opinions....she walks out in a dress with a layered ruffled skirt to look in the mirrors and one lady is all like "ooh, i don't like that at all...."
um...thanks?

i loooovvveee weddings. especially the reception when there is lots of food. i usually serve high table at church so i get the niceties. :yay: anyhow, i want to be able to make my own wedding dress. and i will also say ruth's vows after the normal vows.
also, i will sing to my husband.
i usually feel so mushy when they say i do, geez, i cant wait for my own ' i do'
but i dont want an expensive wedding so afterwards i am broke. i want one within our means.
what more, i wont walk slowly to the pulpit for my wedding. i dont think i will be able to if i wanted. i will walk so fast or i will run. i will want to say my 'i do' and be owned by my hussy.
I WANNA GET MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are ways of having formal weddings without getting too expensive. Currently, I love helping out with them. I haven't had many wedding caterings, but I love to see them. I would love to get married, but I am SOOOO not ready. I am not ready for the responsibilities that come with families, so thus I am not ready for marriage. Plus, there are no guys that seem to be ready for it as well, atleast none that have been interested in me. I prefer being single currently, but that could change in a heartbeat. A double heartbeat after the skipped one. :D Okay, okay, I will stop now.

hey Namwacha.
you're not alone girl. I'm crazy about weddings too but I'm not ready for my own yet. my friend is getting married in may and I'm her chief bridemaid. I'm so excited girls.....
the funny thing is that I'm not desperate about marriage yet but I'm planning my wedding already. Friends, I think my own will be the best ever. I dream about it so much and can't wait to say I do, I do... to my king

Lol. I haven't read all the posts in this thread, so forgive me if I'm re-asking something, but has anyone ever thought about the colours they want? One girl that I know had rainbow colours for her wedding. Each bridesmaid had on a different colour... I thought it was interesting, but not for me..
Any thoughts?

Colors i like blue and burgundy and yellow and brown.. so if i ever get married one of those colors I will use...of course i will be in a magnificent white dress....actually a wedding with an all white team looks pretty cool too.

I think it would be cooler if you used roller blades. Imagine the impact. Have the whole bridal party come skating in... Of course, you could have a skateboard or scooter if you prefered.
It would just be easier than running in a wedding dress and fancy shoes, that's all!

LOL :D Everyone is sooo funny. I have thought about the cake, I have thought about the location, I have thought about the photos, I have thought about my dress, I have thought about the colors of the bridesmaids, I have thought about the flowers, I have thought about who the attendants are going to be. There won't be much left to do by the time I actually get married. Oh, BTW, does anyone feel that the style of the dress that you will get will also kinda depend on the guy that you are marrying?
Namwacha, how could you have waited soooooo long, when you are only just a bit older than me? they say that you are only as old as you feel, so then I must be about 13 or 14. :D Don't rush it girl.
azurity
03-23-2006, 07:50 AM
Good advise, Collegegirl! Don't rush it. Wait till you know it's the Lords will.
And I'm older than both of you. It's worth waiting, trust me.
I guess alot of things would depend on who I married. But then, there are certain styles and things that I like, and that won't change according to who I marry!
I want long sleeves in my dress. Or at least to my elbow, and then sheer fabric after that. I guess to me, short sleeves are really casual and informal. And I want my dress to look nice forever, not just on the day!

Lol. I agree about having your own taste. I don't think it would matter that much on what the guy's opinion is on the dress, you have to like it, after all, you're the one wearing it! ...Not to mention a few other things...Lol, all the guy would have to do is to show up :)

I had tons of fun planning my wedding...the nice thing about it tho was that I pretty much had my whole wedding figured out on paper by the time Trevor actually "popped the question". SO it was less to figure out for me. I had found a dress in a bridal magazine about 3 years or so before i actually got married, that I just loved. THen when I actually went wedding dress shopping it was hard to find something to match that one. But I finally found one very close. The material was the same and the train was fairly close...the only differences was that the one i ended up with had lots more beadwork on it. But it was still very pretty. And Trevor never even seen my dress till i walked down the isle...so his opion didn't count anyway...
I still have it...I've tried to sell it a few times but haven't had any luck. SO if any of you girls are a size 4-6 when you get married and want a dress at discount price then let me know. Of course if the Lord terries then I suppose I could pass my dress down to my daughter...

Dear Sister Trevor,
Please don't sell your wedding garment. I did when my husband lost his job once and we needed cash. It was about four years after we got married. I had paid seven hundred for it. I sold it for two hundred dollars, at the time that was a lot of money and we needed it. But I regret it. I have two little girls now who would love to see it and possibly wear it some day. I would love to have it to let them try it on. It was such a beautiful thing. I have beautiful pictures of it. But I wish I still had it to admire and share with my girls. You may really miss it. Perhaps you would want to get it out and look at it after you have been married twenty years. Sister Lynn
:) P.s. Also It types the word that the bride must clothe herself in.

I admit...i was very small when i got married...dont know if sizes are different in Kenya like they are in austrailla or not but i'll try and describe the size i was....I am about 5'3" tall and when i got married i only weighed about 110 lbs. Now i am stil the same height but am around 135 lbs...(well at least i was before i got pregnant)...so that puts me in a size 10-12 now.

lol I don't have any of the ceremony yet...it would have looked ridiculous if I was standing up there with my camera...lol. Becky (another bridesmaid) wanted to try to sneak one "for the cool view!" but I wouldn't let her.

There was a wedding in our church once where the colors were lime green, electric blue and hot pink...it was actually really cool. There were two bridesmaids wearing each color and their bouquets were white and the color of their dress. It sure looked awesome in the pictures...
