So here's the deal. Last night I cooked a fantastic Thai meal. 2 of them actually..and I thought "hey, I should start a thread on cooking in our new section". Then I come down the stairs, hit "new posts" and I see a cooking thread...but it's in the GIRLS section.

I give this history to note that I did have the idea before I had any idea there was already a thread on such in the girls section. What I'm trying to say here is that...."I'm not copying them". Yeah, it's probably a pride thing.

ANYHOW

So, do any of the rest of you guys cook anything? Any resident YQ chefs?

Please tell me the men in your families at least do the grilling. Grilling is very much a guys thing. Men gathered around the grill, cooking tasty pieces of red meat!! Barbequeing them, rubbing with spices etc... This has always been a big "guy thing" for me. Then I moved here to Indiana, and some of the "men" around here let their wives do the grilling. It's a travesty!!

Onward..

Last night I used the wok, and cooked Pad Thai (Thai noodles) and a Thai sweet and spicy chicken. Complete with Rice, steamed veggies, pinneapple, and the sauce that went with the chicken. BOOM! It was good. A bit hot, but real good.

I think we should use this thread to boast of our exploits in the grilling/cooking arena.

Baby back ribs anyone???

We don't have a real grill, but I enjoy cooking steaks on our George Foreman. Baking's not a girl specific thing either... ever heard of meat pies (http://www.recipezaar.com/21726)? Australian favorite and there's a reason for it!

Joe, you can cook a meat pie up any time. Ring the triangle, and I'll come! It does sound rather tasty. And anything Australian is worth trying.

RecipieZaar. I love the name!

I can do a little of my own cooking. Little things like grilled cheese, raman, mac&cheese.

And unless my dad isn't home, he does the grilling.

Last time I went on a serious hike we heated water and dumped it into a freeze-dry bag of food.

i end up doin that to..the freeze dried stuff but i always try to take along some kinda cookable meet..either canned or dried, dried meat is sometimes rehydratable..of course if u go campin an hikeing durin huntin season u can always have fresh meat:tank:

I used to do a bit of baking, cookies and such... and a while ago we used to rotate chores so I would cook dinners too for a bit... but nothing much recently. Maybe if I ever found time again I would cook more... but way too many things on my list come before that when my mom and sister can cook just fine ;)

I'm just really on a Thai food kick lately. Today I made a Red Curry Chicken. Had some kick to it too...

Once Joe gets a real grill...

real grill my foot... I couldn't use it! I mean, why fire up a huge grill when only cooking a single eight-ounce fillet?

BroTrevor

ok, I relent given those circumstances.

However, when the cookoff comes... I do suggest getting the right tools for the job.

Yeah, I'll remember that when I start getting a significant surplus income. :(
