Girls,

Is it wrong for a girl to wear pants?

I don't mean visably, i mean under a skirt.
Say in the middle of a freezing winter, i'm cold, i put pants on under my skirt, that no one would ever know i'm wearing - is that wrong?
Personally i dont think so, i do it to keep warm and for no other reason. I could wear stockings or something like that but i find they arent as warm - whihc of course depends on the material.
I dont think there are any actual facts/scriptures or quotes to argue either way.

Except for the one in the bible which says never to put on a garment pertaining to a man. Does that mean AT ALL?

Also wearing pyjama pants to bed, that only your family would see, is that wrong also?

I personally dont do the above, i use to, didnt feel comfortable with it so now i dont.
But i dont think there is anything wrong if i wear pants only for the purpose of keeping warm.

i have to agree with you...it can get nasty cold and when it does i wear a fuller skirt and a pair of scrub pants underneath

on the outside, you still have a skirt on, and thats what youre showing

oh, underneath is not bad. at least i dont think so. about pajamas, if you wear them to bed and no one sees you, i dont know if it is bad, but if people see it(even your family is people). but i aint sure, so seek a second opinion.

If you are not really sure within yourself then don't do it. Personally i don't see the problem. The Bible says 'if your heart condemns you not'.But then you can rationalise whatever you want out of the message. HOWEVER, you should not try and fool yourself because God knows your heart even if you don't (or tell yourself you don't).Satan pounces on uncertainty, so leave it into Gods hands and when He gives you the answer, you can give anyone a concrete answer for your decision.

The main purpose to the law is to maintain a separation and distinction between men and women. God made each of us special in different ways and he set up the 'dress code' to prevent the blurring of the distinctions between genders.

Doesn't it just make you cringe to see a woman all dressed up like a man and acting manly/macho? And does anyone else get nauseous when they see a male cross dresser?

But it's possible to dress according to the letter of the law, and still have a masculine or dominating spirit on us, sisters. The important thing is to follow the spirit of the law. If we do that, we will still adhere to the law, but it will no longer be a hardship or a nit picking fest on what goes and what does not.

Anyway, all that to say the following:

I don't see how pants under a dress takes away from the appearance of a godly lady, nor trespasses the boundaries of distinction.

(I hope all of this is coherent, because I am practically falling asleep on my keyboard. *head droops* adal;dfopjwaghureu)

I agree with Blood Washed Bride. I asked my mom one time why women had to wear skirts, this was a long time ago, and she said that a woman's body is made to bear children. It is not to be shown off to the world. Pants just accent a woman's body and the parts that are meant to be covered. If women would realize what they are showing off, they would be ashamed!

i agree. i used to wear pants when i joined university because i was just rebelious. and i wore them to feel sexy. even the widest of pants makes one feel sexy and seem sexy too. and i think that is a feeling that we should leave for our marital bedrooms.

So many girls at school wear their pants so tight that their fat just billows out over the top of their pants, it's disgusting!!!!! However, I've seen just as many females in skirst that were way to tight. This one teacher at my school wears the tightest skirt I've ever seen, I don't know how she gets it on without it ripping, but it is gross, and she's not skinny, so it's even worse. I wear looser clothes so as not to show off any unseemly parts, not tight to accentuate them.

marichino_freedom
02-05-2006, 05:13 PM
i just wear looser clothes for the simple fact that they are more comfy....

I would wear these snowpants when I would go picking berries so that they thorns wouldn't catch the material of my clothes, and then my dad told me I shouldn't, that I should wear something over it. I wear leggings and such when it gets cold, and split skirts when I ride horses, but I would never go out and buy actual pants to wear under skirts. I would get leggings. I would feel too uncomfortable even wearing them under my skirt.

Yes, that's right...

Is it wrong when it does not show?....like wearing them under your skirt?

On cold and windy days, I wonder if your skirt should blow up, if it's better to have pants on underneath, or not to???....what's more decent?

desertroses

I think just to go along with that, we need to look at what the prophet said....'what are your motives'...you know, is it to show ourselves up or for protection....

the more bundled i am, the better i feel! it gets pretty cold sometimes...and if you're doing something that may or may not involve the possibility of your skirt flying up or you falling down, its better to be covered.

marichino_freedom
02-23-2006, 10:34 PM
i think its okay when you are doing something that may or may not involve you falling down (hence...skirt falling UP), that way you are still being modest.

plus, it just gets downright NASTY cold and the more bundled up i am, the happier i am!!

When I was younger, I used to wear leggings under my skirt. I always made sure you couldn't see them, and tucked them into my socks, etc. Then, for a while I stopped. I just go convicted, and didn't want to be wearning them. I can remember taking them off for the last time, and feeling so FREE!

I just froze for the rest of the winter.

But now, I think that as long as they are the sort that you would wear only as underwear... not the sort that actually look like trousers, or trackpants that bulge out from underneath, there is nothing wrong with that. It is not much difference from wearing stockings or tights.

As for wearing pyjamas to bed, someone asked Brother Branham that:

QUESTIONS.AND.ANSWERS.3_ JEFF.IN COD SUNDAY_ 64-0830M
1119-Q-367 367. I'd like to ask a question. Number one: Is lady's pajamas... (Now, wait just a minute; let me read it. ... pertaining to men's garments? Is it wrong to turn the ends of... No, this will be all right). Is a lady's pajamas pertaining to a man's garments?
Ha ha. Boy, don't tell me they can't ask you some burners. Ha ha ha. I don't know. Ha ha. I'm just going to let you do the deciding of that. [B]You shouldn't be parading around before people with them on; I--I know that. So that way it would be, but in the--in going to bed I--I--I don't know. I'm going to have to back up on that one too. I told you I'd be honest if I didn't know. I'm not going to put my own thought about it (All right.), unless you want my own thought. If you want that, I will tell you. See?
Now remember, it isn't it--it--this--this could be a million miles wrong. I think it'd look nice to have a nightgown on. But--but if you--but if you... But that's just up to you. Now, I can't--I can't tell you that, 'cause I couldn't back it up. Now, that's--that's--that's me, not Him, remember. See?

I just bolded those sentances because it's kind of hard to read, with the puncuation. He doesn't actually say if it's right or wrong according to the Word. So it's up to the individual to find what's right for them in their circumstances. For me, I think a nighty does just fine.

Ok. Here's another one. Is it wrong to wear nighties (nightgowns) that are shorter, and show your knees? Or are sleeveless/thin straps?

desertroses
03-04-2006, 02:02 PM
Now this is just my opinion, I don't have any quotes from Bro. Branham on this that I can think of, so this is just my thoughts. I think that wearing a shorter night gown in your bedroom is not wrong. I think it's wrong when people see you in it. I don't see anything wrong in it if you wear it in your bedroom and you go to sleep in it. However, I think that once you step out of your room, you should put on a long, decent robe. Also for nighties with straps and no sleeves, I don't see anything wrong with that to sleep in, but again, wear a long robe on top of it, when you are not in your bedroom.

(by the way, when I said "you", I'm not talking about anyone in particular, just in general) :)

Well I havent really added to much to this thread but i'll throw in my thoughts on the whole pants and short gowns thing.

As for pants underneath skirts....I guess it really depends on where you live honestly. Around here it doesn't get terrible cold in the winter. I just wear knee socks under my skirts and a long slip and that keeps me plenty warm. But i guess tights would be fine. I used to wear those when i was younger but just really didn't feel the need for them as i grew older. But as i stated eairler...if you live in a place where it gets really cold in the winter or you go snowmobiling or skiing or somthing then i dont see anything wrong with tights under your skirts. I dont really think actual pants are acceptable, but that's my just me.

And as for short nightgowns and such..i have to agree with dessertroses. If its just you in your room then that's fine. But I wouldn't go parading arond the house in them. I grew up with 4 brothers and I always put on a long robe whenever i left my room. Personally shorter gowns are more comfy to me...long ones get all bunched up around my waist when i sleep...but i toss and turn a lot at night too.:)

azurity
03-05-2006, 12:31 AM
Anna May... I've got 5 brothers, so I'm one up on you there!

I guess if no one ever sees what you wear to bed, then no one would ever know what you wore, anyway. The rest of the world wouldn't know if you wore nothing at all!

But, if you're only wearing it when in your bedroom, what do you do when you have someone else sleeping in the same room? Now for you married sisters, that's between you and your husband. But us single girls often have friends sleep over, etc. I've always been one for long nighty's with long sleeves, and sometimes wonder if my friends think I dress like an old lady when I go to bed!

Just to be awkward and play devils advocate :D going along with the theme of trousers (or as the rest of u none British people call them 'pants') and the fact that they can be worn under a skirt if it cannot be seen. What if a man wears lady's underwear? It can't be seen and he may feel that wearing lady's underwear is more comfortable (I don't see how he could -but anyway) :D.Just because it can't be seen doesn't mean it's right... :)

p.s freeatlast I agree with you. With other girls, I have no problem wearing my nightshirts etc. But that's just the way I am. I mean the way I see it we're all girls, and unless u have friends that swing the other way-if u know what I mean-I don't see the problem.

My eyelashes are curly and stick together. They are pretty long, but blond on the end so they don't look so long. They brush my glasses and it drives me crazy! They fall out a lot too. My mom said I could use vaseline to keep them from sticking and curling into my eyes, but I don't because it would be the same as clear mascara. oh yeah, its the norm here. if a thread stays on topic, someone has to come up and change it. people in here feel duty bound to do so! :) hehehe

i think pants...it seems to be a pattern. hehe! but i like off topic threads. they are more ihn topic than in topic threads. uuuh, does that make sense? :misli:

What do you all think about shaving of eyebrows...

EWWWWW!!!!! Why on earth would someone want to do that?? I mean, it's not like it's a flattering or natural look. Plucking, waxing or wotever to get your eyebrows into shape is one thing. Shaving them off is a retro flashback that should NEVER happen.

I think shaving the eyebrows is pretty gross. lol But using tweezers just to shape them? I don't really think there's anything wrong with that. I don't know, but I've known some people that have their eyebrows start connecting... wouldn't it be ok for them to do something about that?

I'd say no, because one is grooming, while the other isn't. When people shave off their eyebrows they normally pencil them back in, which is totally wrong. And in my opinion, a mono-brow/caterpillar eyebrow is a very good reason to get out the tweezers ;)

i hate it when people shave off their eyebrows and then use pencil on it. it looks so strange. women who do that look so not nice. natural is always best.
i dont know about tweezing them, so i cant say for sure.

a sister from our church compares the way we look to a picture a little kid drew. (let's say sally) Sally spent 2 painstaking hours on a picture and someone that she admires walks by and says yuck! that's an ugly picture. God spent so much more time on each one of us and when we think we're ugly (or someone else is ugly) we are basically walking up to sally and saying that's an ugly picture. (did i just confuse ya'll?)

Do you use actual pants? I use legs (cloth strechy things I don't know how to explain it!) under my dresses during the cold.
