I am just wondering, what defines a "rock" beat. I love to listen to a song with either a good Bass (singing bass) or beat to it. And many times I find my self tapping hands or feet to songs (worldly and christian) without paying attention to the words of the song it self. Help please

Good question. Though I've heard some people say things like "watch that 2 -4 beat!" I don't think there's any hard and fast rule.

I think that under the right circumstances, with the right spirit, any beat could be just fine. This is where being prayed up and having the Holy Ghost come in. One must really rely on God to let them know what pleases Him and what does not.

I know that when I get closer to the Lord, there are certain songs on my CDs that I just can't stomach while under that annointing.

Conclusion: No hard and fast rule, what is the Spirit inside telling you?

I think you've nailed it pretty well, I also have been through situations where some songs I just couldn't stand. Thanks for helping me define m thinking a little better.

i know what you are talking about. i read once in an only believe magazine that chrictian rock songs are worse than anything. you see this age is so lukewarm we are trying to mix Christ with the world. I dont know what classifies rock but as joe says, let GOd speak to you. learn to listen when He does

A good thread to refer to is "Current Trends Within Message Music" and it's counterpart "Music Continued" in this same forum (eg Study Hall).

Some people made very excellent and helpful points in that discussion - it was one of our better threads :)
