yes ninjas assassinated ppl for the Shoguns and Lord of power the ninja i creature of the night and shadow whos code of honor goes to the highest bidder. and yes they did torture people, you need to read alot more books, ms bookworm lol and yes Samurai did have a code of honor but it is sad that many good men had fallen to hard times due to the wars and battles in japan, it was those wars that lead to the creation of the legend of the Samurai's sword.

I make my connection to the Samurai through this because the Katana ( or long sword ) was considered to be the soul of the samurai, and is not the sword of Gods word in our soul? there is a book that you should read called, the Code of the Samurai, if you really want to see what a true samurai's code was. There are alot of good things in there. BUt like i said, Japan had many wars and that is how they also perfected the samurai sword. Which is why it is one of the best made swords in the world. And samurai had a true art when using the sword called Iaido, the art of one stroke, meaning that when they pulled the blade and made their cut and returned the sword to the saya was one stroke that took out there opponet.

Alot of ninjas started out as samurai but had fallen into hard times or some other event changed and they became instruments of the night. You can go with the ninja if you want but the true knights of Japan were the Samurai. :)
