Upon entering the Fort, I see shutters hanging loosely from the windows. Signs of no use.
Opening the door to the armory, it is nearly empty except for old journals on a desk.
Something is wrong here.
Nearly all the rooms and buildings show signs of abandonment. Cobwebs are in all the corners and dust is heavy on the furniture. It's like everyone has just disappeared.
If one stops for a moment and the wind would stop blowing, one could hear a pin drop.
What happened? Where is everyone?
The great illustrous space shooter's weapons lay rusting in his room. He seems to failed in obtaining a 10,000 hit. The faithful leaders have vanished nearly a month ago.
The conquests and discussions of victory are nearly all but forgetton. Recording in Journals - Like Miltary Secrets, How to Handle Job Oppurtunities, Godmen, and such like.
Is this the end. It's like a church after a great meeting and all gone home except the doorkeeper to close up the building.
He can still hear the music playing, the worship going on, the sinners and backslidders crying repentance - but it's only memories going through his mind - as the empty pews and pulpit stand silently. The warmth and life are gone, but there still seems a presence that something good happened here.
I will have to check around, and see if there is any evidence that life is here. Any used rooms that seem to have a presence in them, an attraction. Or is this the end. The last thread of the last chapter for such a noble venture as the Fort.

That would be a sad ending to the story, except it does not end there. Ponder with me... sit awhile... let's reminisce...
The Fort has been abandoned for something better! Something brighter! More wonderful in the kingdom yonder! A kingdom with great promise! And a great palace!
The land is at rest. Peace flows into the river called Time. Time flows through the magnificent kingdom as the mist rolls away. The palace shines bright in the morning light.
The calmness of sunrise on this magnificent kingdom is such a beauty to behold. Young people are joining for their devotions, spending time with their family, or perhaps out enjoying God's wonderful creation on this magnificent resurrection morning!
The memory of the wars, rumors of wars, fights, scuffles, the politics of times past are just a distant memory... a memory that when one-steps back and realizes that was just a time when things moved too fast.
Friendships were made, winners were declared, and great debate was entertained. But in the end The Fort was no longer needed.
Because now we have Life! Life comes and goes, but only this moment we can live to its fullest! What are we doing with it?
It may seems sad, to others glad, but to most its memories... memories of how moments were made, lives were touched, hearts were changed.
Friends made, friends promoted to Eternity, but one day we'll see them, get to sit down, talk awhile, talk about the good times of life... God's blessings, His power, His Majesty... King of our lives!
How The Fort was a place... only for "the guys". And now? It's open to strangers both far and wide. They come... stand in awe at the great creations, remembering the gallant knights in shining armor... that is truly why this place is so silent.
Don't be fooled! Don't be deceived! "The guys" are just as powerful, just as smart, just as mean! They are ready when duty calls, to make a move on the malls, if that's where the spies report the girls hide!
To protect or to pay for the goods that they hold, that's the question no one has told!
So there you have it, the story of The Fort is not over yet. There may still be fights to take on the national debt! Maybe even take a few friends out on their private jet.
So before you get to alarmed, think back to the days of "the powerful boys" and how they charmed the girls.
Girls Talk might have out done them in words and sentences, but in the end the boys have nothing to present them... except Life!
Oh we can still juggle! :-p :juggle:

Well, I am back and closing in on 10k... less than 20 posts to go ;) Sorry I am too tired now to wax as eloquent as you two have done... I will just applaud your fine posts.

Oh my, (as he tips his hat at Hotshot), all is not lost nor forgotten.
Than comes the question, will Hotshot on obtaining the 10 grand retire on his laurels or persist in the fight.
Ah yes to reminiscence, that bring us to the good times we have had. The better is yet to come true. Sometimes as human as we are, to turn the corner is a hard lot.
But if one doesn't, one risks the threat of going alone.
Better places, yes. This is still a place where the boys can come and kick back. So oft I must trod.

Though forsaken, the The Fort timelessly persists. It lays in waiting, waiting for the day when it's sanctuary is again needed. When wearied soldiers again rest within its stalwart walls and received the comfort of this welcoming haven.
When this will be, The Fort knows, nor cares, not. It only waits, ready whenever those in need require it.
Someday, a lone traveler will lift the latch of its ancient door, needful of a shelter and place of convalescence. Then, as if it had never faded from its former glory, The Fort will return to its previous stature. With each passing moment, the discoverer of its patient halls will revive the dormant splendor of The Fort.
Ever ready, The Fort waits. Who will seek its refuge?

On the sly I was going to - you know - uh hm - dust them off and try them out. While noone was looking.

Hrmm... it is a bit dusty in here tho. You guys are right.
Perhaps we should pay one of the girl talk girls to come over here, TEMPORARILY, and clean for us?

got my vote, or do we even need a vote on that.
'm pretty sure they'd just hand us a broom and dustpan and tell us to get to work.

At which point we would drop the broom on the floor and say "well...I guess it isn't THAT dirty in here..."

NEVER!!!! You guys are trespassing sacred "The Fort" code that is so hallowed it is not allowed to be defiled by being transcribed by mortal methods!!!
Therefore I cannot say what that sacred code you would be defiling. But a girl has already written in "The Fort." This is a tragedy...
We already have to do a 30 day purification ritual of "The Fort."
meh
who cares? I mean... really.

Well that was one way of getting the boys to pull and do there part. Just allow a little trespass.
But hey I am merciful, I have done my goofs, and accidentally posted in Girl talk, but that was at the newbie stage.

Lol, most people think everyone will give reds, so they give greens to offset... but few people actually give the reds, so it does often gain rep ;)

Ha ha, last time I did, I got more greens than many other really good threads. I think it was second only to the elections era.

Maybe our sisters are more gracious to our blunders. Just maybe.
Though, I must say I prospered in other places better for the greens. But I didn't get no reds.

What!!!
Women or men shaving legs?!?!?!?!
Yes a little disturbance here might get things moving.
Ha - I doubt it - no one will notice.
What!!!
Women or men shaving legs?!?!?!?
What's the difference? Body hair is body hair. Why would I care what you or anyone else does with your leg hair? Or pit, pubes, chest, or back for that matter. Hair is hair.

I only shave facial hair but no other, some people in church encouraged to do so as a good thing to do.
Nobody cares about my leg hairs obviously ;)

Where is men of old
All burly and hairy.
Oh such wimps this society has become. Oh such laden with vanity and pride.
Trying to stay young and avoid any signs of age.
I guess the Mad_wrapper accomplished his goal, a disturbance has brought in some attention to the nearly abandon Fort.
A rabble rouser he is. Activist, in cahoots with the Nate fellow. Toss out controversial sayings, get the fluff up.
