What is your favorite outfit? I have quite a few...so I won't share them all at once. But one of my favorites is a green one that I made. It is like a lime green satin covered in a white sheer. I will see if I can post a picture of it. It is a lengthened circle skirt that I can fit over a crinoline, and then the top is an altered wedding dress top that laces up the back. It is sooo pretty....

My favorite outfit is my Gap jean skirt with my Puma sweatshirt and my track jacket/sweater with Cosco socks. All store bought, but I'm not much into sewing. I can't sew very well, so I don't because I can't stand it when it's not perfect. My mom sews well, but I can never find patterns that I like.

Wow, I don't have a favorite outfit... That makes me sad! I need to go shopping sometime! :D

I sew, but I don't do very well with patterns. I made my dress for graduation, but that's the most complicated thing I've done. Anybody sew without patterns?

Collegegirl, your fave outfit sounds so pretty! I'd love to see a pic!

Babyruth, your fave outfit sounds super comfy!

Yeah, my fav outfit is very comfy, that's why it's my favorite. I don't really like dressing up. I do for church, but I feel so uncomfortable. Occasionally I like to dress up, but not often. I like some of my summer outfits. My one skirt from Gap is dressy and pretty and comfy though, I didn't think of it until now. Anyways...anyone else's favorite outfit, or a couple?

Well, currently I am working on a new dress, (formal, of course) that I think is going to be my new favorite. I will post pictures of my other dress, but this one is a spruce green satin, and it is a retro style pattern. I love it, and I think I am going to use the pattern for my Easter dress. I was trying it on today, and it makes me look sooo slender, and I love it. :D

i just throw on anything that is comfortable but i like earthy colors though....i just spent two days cleaning out my room ( please note that it was not that dirty) just had a lot of stuff that needed to be thrown away) so all the clothes that i had and did not wear this year i took them out and give it to my mom to gie to someone who was in need.
Some of these stuff i hardly wore...

I did the same thing the other day. It was really nice! I cleaned out and got rid of a bunch of clothes that I've had for a long time and never gotten rid of for no reason. Now, my closet is all organized and much neater.

blessed
12-27-2005, 01:47 PM
now my closet actually have space ( even though its not much) but space is beautiful in this case...i can go buy more clothes when there is a sale :D

Babyruth
12-27-2005, 04:43 PM
Same with me. I have to share my closet with my sister, so it's twice as crowded as it normally would have been. Now, I cleaned out my area, my sister needs to do the same with her area. She never hangs up her clothes, she just shoves them into the closet and they take up twice as much space as normal. It drives me crazy!!!!!

blessed
12-27-2005, 07:04 PM
that would drive me crazy...:D

12-27-2005, 07:26 PM
OK PEOPLE... remember how i proudly announced that i cleaned out my closet and all the extra space i have and blah blah blah..well my mom just went through the bag of clothes that i had given her and threw back about half of it in my room :aaaah: .....scrrreeeeammm of course i cannot argue with her cause she had reasons as to why i should keep each piece...arrrrrggggggggghhh.. the whole point of throwing it out is because i don't want it :aaaah:

Babyruth
12-28-2005, 01:35 AM
Yes, it does drive me crazy! That's terrible! That's why it took me so long to get my closet completely cleaned out is because my mom kept telling me to keep clothes and I felt bad getting rid of some of it because I never wore it but felt bad getting rid of it. Luckily, my mom didn't have a problem with me getting rid of my stuff. It's all in great condition, I just haven't worn any of it for years.

blessed
12-28-2005, 12:17 PM
i think i will keep it for a couple of weeks and try again hopefully she will forget that she told me to keep them :D :D

Babyruth
12-28-2005, 07:48 PM
You could secretly give them away, although that probably wouldn't be good. You could wait a while and suggest giving them away to people that need them. Say that you feel bad having clothes that you never wear and would like someone in need to have them. I'm sure it's true, and a good excuse to get rid of them.

you could have a clothes sharing party, invite some friends over and see if any of them want it.

i usually give some of the clothes that i don't wear to my younger cousins....clothes that I don't want to let go but have to since they do not fit anymore

my sisters are not believers so they will not wear my clothes... that is a funny thought imagine me giving my oldlady clothes to them lol.....

vpiper
12-29-2005, 01:48 PM
old lady clothes-yeah before I converted I told my Hubby(just friend at the time) that dressing like that was fine for his mom and sister, but I would look like a bag lady if I tried to dress like that.

Update-I dress cute and my sisters' only complaint is that wearing skirts is too restrictive.

That's funny! People are always amazed at what I can do in a skirt. I've gone wall climbing in a skirt, played almost all sports, climbed, ect. Today, I was doing stream restoration for money for a club at school, and we had to climb up and down a very slippery hill to get to the stream. I was fine, except that the boots I was wearing were huge, so it was a little hard. Everyone kept saying that I was amazing to be doing it in a skirt. One guy said that it must be hard to climb in a skirt. I told him the only trouble was my boots. It's really funny. People think you can't do anything in a skirt. The one teacher kept saying I was soooo amazing and she couldn't believe I was doing everything in a skirt. It's really funny!!!!

I wont even get into what my family says to me about my attire....*sigh* My niece tells me I look frumpy, but to tell you the truth, I'm quite funky.

I should go through my closet...its quite full. My favorite outfits include hoodies, bright/ bold colors, sparkles, jeans skirts, and funky socks. when i get tired of something, I just change it...change the sleeves, add soomething new, iron something on, puffy paint, etc....I'm into restoration too.

12-30-2005, 10:48 AM
it is pretty funny :D...i think we all have similar experiences with just different situations....most ppl i know compliment me on how I look good in a skirt but for some girls...they would say that if they will be the one wearing a skirt....it would look dreadful on them.....so they stay with jeans...sometimes i would almost want to blurt out saying most ppl think that I don't have fashion sense.....hehehe.....wearing jeans everyday of your life is not a fashion to me....i like mix and match with all my skirts and my blouses...they also notice that i wear my skirt long not above the knee....and i told them...that is what it should be

marichino_freedom

i need to learn to sew...decent skirts are very hard to find here and when you do its so expensive...its as if they don't want you to buy a long skirt i saw this nice one.. a simple long jeans skirt and when i asked the woman for the price she told me $250 i was like WHHHAAAAAAAAAATTTTT. Never mind thank you for your help and left the store:D.. so i dont have much jeans skirt

Babyruth
12-31-2005, 09:03 PM
I have a hard time finding good jean skirts too. However, they are never as expensive as blessed's. I love jean skirts, and they seem way dressier, just because they are skirts. Jeans are so sloppy and they wear them everyday all the time. You can't tell the difference between most of their jeans, but you can with jean skirts.

marichino_freedom
01-01-2006, 06:38 PM
When i turn jeans into skirts, I seam rip all the way through the inside of the legs, then I cut off the peaks. I sew about 1/8 to 1/4 inch seams straight down in front and back (only if the legs are wide enough), but usually I stop around the knee area and then fill in the front and back triangle with other fabric. it usually only takes 2 or 3 hours.

01-02-2006, 02:06 PM
I am going to try to make my own patterns. Really, it can't be too hard. I have made several skirts from patterns, and just recently I made a skirt from another skirt, and it turned out great, so I am going to try it again.

thanks vanessa. i'm getting pretty bored with it myself. whats worse is that my neice is filling in the gaps. if no one says anything, she tells me how stupid i look. (and then everyone else says when are you going to quit pretending and get out of the cult? blah blah blah)

Babyruth

I'm happy! I know it's not the same as your family, but I hope it's good to know there are believers that love you and support you. God bless!

collegegirl
01-15-2006, 09:44 PM
We totally support you, and whenever you are feeling down, you just come on here and tell us, and we will lift you up in fellowship.

As for the strangers, I get that all the time, but more from the older people. I have had people in the grocery store telling me that it was a nice change to see a girl dressed modestly compaired to the shorts that all of the other girls were wearing. THe older people can be so encouraging. They are the ones telling me not to change, to stay the same way, while the younger ones are the ones who really almost look down on it.

That is is they care about thier family or the old people even have a family. some don't and nursing homes and hospices cost money same as Homes. That is why the church is called to care for the widows and orphans that are familyless

I have soo many more favourite outfits but I dont want to bore u all........but if you want to be bored just ask ;)
