Just curious as to whether any of you guys have any thoughts on the GodMen movement or the Good Guy Revolution. I just stumbled across them on the net...
http://www.godmen.org/

From what I've read so far they are basically a group that claims that mainstream Christianity presents an image of Jesus that accentuates His meekness, His gentleness, His humility while downplaying His assertiveness and courage. They claim this creates a society of men who in seeking to emulate this distorted image of Christ lose their ability to be the assertive, courageous, strong leaders they are called to be.

Do you believe that men are superior to women? Believe it or not women have nothing to do with this movement. No human being is intrinsically superior to any other. God loves us all equally and completely. We are just allowing men to be unapologetically ...MEN!, true to their God-created nature.
We have a society where men are often demeaned for the sake of a joke. When boys or men behave consistent to their male nature, our society has a knee-jerk reaction and says men must tone it down. Lower their voice. Put on a helmet. Take Ritalin. In GodMen NONE of our maleness is toned down because we believe, as the Bible states, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. It's a privilege many men never experience.
We also recognize that we live in a fallen world where our maleness gets out of control and is out of synch with God's perfect design. We challenge and encourage men to transform these areas of their lives. But this instruction is most effective when it is done by men for men.
Our experience has been that most women want their men to become more assertive, proactive, protective and loving since GodMen are truly good men. Any man coming to this experience believing it is going to give him permission to control or not be accountable to his wife is in for a rude awakening. GodMen see their wives as gifts from God and treat them accordingly.

Anyways, I just thought I'd ask if any of you have any thoughts on this movement, their ideas etc..

never heard of them. The words kinda make me think of a book, that I had borrowed of a friend (that I only read partly), which in English has the title 'Wild at Heart", by John Eldredge (had to look that up ;))

I think it is a good idea in theory and I am firm believer of not focusing simply on the meekness and humbleness of Jesus Christ, after all I want to know Him in all His glory not just some small part that appeals to society ideals.

I doubt their methodology is very sound however, to me it seems as if all they do in their gatherings of men is be very loud and boorish. I don't know all the details but that is the vibe I get from reading their website.
