I like essays. Kinda. Well, it turns out that 4 out of my 6 classes, (I know, WHAT was I thinking?) were all with the same teacher that I have had for now 3 semesters, and he just instituted the idea of notebooks for the classes, where all of the handouts and notes and such will be put into, and given to him for a grade. I had that for two classes, knew I had it for a third, but wasn't sure about the fourth until today, and the final is tomorrow.
Pray for me. I will be taking the test for my Food Handler's Certificate, and I hear it isn't that hard, but somethings are tricky on there. Finals, eesh.

I like art in the history but i dont like art history, I mean why do i have to tell you about modernist movement and what lead to this and that blah blah, cant I just like the art??
collegegirl
12-15-2005, 11:06 AM
Because it is interesting WHY the art became what it became, why it went there. It is interesting to know how the artist was feeling when he was painting it, like Goya. *shudder* His later paintings were pretty gruesome, because of how he was feeling at the time. He was practically suicidal when he painted some of his pieces. But his earlier paintings were nice. You have to wonder sometime WHY they painted what they did.
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 11:09 AM
no i dont, maybe you do but I really dont care, I am sure he and the rest had their reasons but that doesnt mean I have to try to think what they were thinking or wonder how they felt or why or what ever, did you ever wonder why I did that picture of Joe?? what I was feeling at the time when I did it? what was my ultimate message behind it, maybe it was a dark and disturbed mind behind it only you cant see it, blah blah blah

anyone hear of Kodo?
A composer, right? I think I have heard of him....Heard some of his music....
Yes, a Russian composer. I was recently introduced to him and I rather enjoy his later works. They're a little crazy, but I like 'em.
I also want to get a hold of some Shostakovich.
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 11:32 AM
KODO!!!!!!
Aren't they a Japanese group, centering they're music primarily around the taiko?
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 11:36 AM
you are so a cheater, you could have just said no I dont know them, cause you dont lol Looking it up doesnt count :P
What are you talking about? They're a world renowned ensemble. Any cultured person would know that name.
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 11:44 AM
sure sure, if they know their name then they can tell where they started and why they changed
Not neccessarily. Do you know where Handel started from? The course of change his music took as he aged? Or are you only familiar with some of his works? Or maybe you only know who is is?
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 11:50 AM
never heard of him , but have heard of manheim steamrollers lol :D because they are from my city :D
Handel's Messiah?
Never mind... how about Mozart? Know all about him - or just some vague details?
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 11:56 AM
all about lol, but only like some of his music, for me i only like some of the big names in classical, I am more partial to names like Jhon williams or danny elfman or perhaps david arnold :D and by "If they" I ment you, and what is Taiko without looking ?? i am sure you probibly know
collegegirl
12-15-2005, 11:57 AM
Mozart wrote his first piece of music at like 5, and I think he played the violin. He is just about as famous as Beethoven, whose works I love. Oh, and Handel's Messiah? Oh, I LOVE that piece. A very famous Christmas piece. He wrote a ton of very hard Arias and Operas because of the quickness and pitch of the notes, if I have it correctly...
What do you think of Beethoven?
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 12:06 PM
knew you would guess it lol ok let me ask this mr culture lol since you know more than one classical artist, can you name another famous Taiko group?? :D
collegegirl
12-15-2005, 12:12 PM
Okay, you aren't cultured just because you can name more than one Taiko group, or more than one classical composer. I had probably heard of Taiko, but I never remember hearing about it. But that doesn't mean I am not cultured. That is just one aspect. There are many other culture aspects, such as clothes, and hairstyles, (yes, believe it) furniture, entertainement, literature, language, food, travel, and a million other aspects to culture. And just because you know only about a few doesn't mean that you aren't cultured.
Christian-Samurai
12-15-2005, 01:55 PM
I didnt say that you had to know these things to be cultured, and i didnt say you had to know more than one to be cultured, yet Joe did say ANY Cultured persone would know that name, and I didnt say hear about taiko I said KODO, so I guess if those who have hear of beethoven and mozart but not KODO are not cultured lol

I welcome the opportunity to broaden my interests and views. I will have to do more reading, even though recently I haven't had much time for reading. I am so a bookworm, and not reading is hard. I love to read, and I love to play the piano, and I love to listen to music. When the three somehow combine, I really enjoy it.

I don't like writing essays at all, but somehow, whenever I need to write anything, they end up being a million pages long. Not really, but really long. Last year for U.S. History, we had to write an essay on 8 topics about the Civil War. They only had to be 5-8 pages, or something like that. Well, mine ended up being 20 pages, typed, double-spaced. It wasn't very fun. My teacher made fun of me and still does. Even with this post, I don't mean to write so much, but it just comes out.
collegegirl
12-21-2005, 09:06 AM
:D That is funny. Sometimes when I need to say a lot, I can't, but when I don't need to, I do. Kinda backwards. But you have to love double spaced when you are at a loss for words.....
Babyruth
12-21-2005, 05:04 PM
Yeah, it was pretty funny. I love doublespaced!!!!!
blessed
12-21-2005, 06:13 PM
Hey double space is for when u don't write enough....that is why i use it :D
collegegirl
12-21-2005, 06:26 PM
IT has helped so much when it comes to writing papers that I don't have very much to say. For that matter, did you know that upping the font size by one can help fill in the rest of the page if you need to fill it in? :D I utilize that all of the time. LOL :-p
Babyruth
12-22-2005, 07:09 PM
My teachers make us use 12 pt. Times New Roman font. Otherwise, we get docked points. Sometimes, very rarely, mostly for short stories, which I hate writing, I make the margins larger. That takes more space, and you can't always tell.

Lol, I agree with collegegirl... if I have to write an essay I can never find enough to say... I always condense it all. And if it's not important I can write a ton... see any of my xanga entries about my vacations....my longest is an 8 page post about a 3-day weekend spent out in Lebanon ;)
I much prefer classes that have tests rather than essays....
All4Jesus
12-23-2005, 12:16 PM
Tests!!!! Everytime I have tests I panic so badly that i always end up with lowest mark. Although I thank God for being able to pass my 11+ and go to a grammar school i wish i went to a normal school instead. The tests we have are soooo.. many. It can be so stressful sometimes. I've got to make some very important choices in feb and i'm scared. They depend on my future. I want to be really sure. I don't want to look back and regret. I know God will take care of everything. After all he would not have send me to a grammar school if he knew I would suffer. I can write essays everyday but tests!!! No thanks. :)
Christian-Samurai
12-23-2005, 01:33 PM
BAH, Both of them are bad BOTH!!!!!
Babyruth
12-23-2005, 11:09 PM
Both are bad, but if I had to choose one, it would be an essay. I can write a lot, which is a blessing. But tests are terrible!!!! I study probably more than everyone else in my classes, but I never get as good a score as I want. It's sooo annoying!!!!!!!!!!
HotShot53
12-24-2005, 01:36 AM
Hmm... I've never had those kinds of problems with tests... I'm the sort of person that's more like a robot, good recal and bad creativity. Which makes tests way easier than essays...

Thinking about it i would prefer a test to an essay, i have mastered the art of cramming and spitting out everything, that is much easier than having to write an essay which usually requires a lot of research.. i usually do well in my tests
All4Jesus
12-26-2005, 01:43 PM
er....Tests are horrid!!!! :ranting:
I would rather research that revise! Some of us have panic attacks which is a shame when we have God. Anyways.. I'm glad you do well in your tests :) God Bless you. Lots of Love!
