Ok. Am I the only one who was glad that OSU got beat by LSU? That wasn't even a game last night. That was more like a practice for LSU. I mean seriously, OSU can't seem to beat any SEC teams that they have played. I believe they are like 0-8 against them. Maybe, just maybe, the SEC is better than the Big 10.

Kudos to LSU...The game came down to two plays(my opinion, but I'd venture to say that if you go to ESPN.com, CNNSI.com etc you will find plenty major writers who agree). The two plays in question were the blocked field goal when OSU was looking to go up 13-10, which was simply a mistake by the offensive lineman who didn't get enough of a push or keep his hands high enough, and an unnaceptable mental error by Austin Spitler who came through LSU's line unblocked on an LSU punt in the third quarter, and somehow managed not only to not block the punt, but ran into the punter, giving LSU an automatic first down(it had been 4th and 23). If OSU makes those two plays, they win the game. However, again, kudos to LSU, we gained more yards than they did, but they outgained us the only place it matters: on the scoreboard.
I take two positives from this game. First, the "SEC is too fast for the Big Ten" myth has been exposed for just that, a myth. OSU had plenty of speed, as evidenced by Beanie Wells BCS Title Game record 65 yard touchdown run on the fourth play of the game. After the gameLSU tight end Richard Dickson said "They had just as much speed as anyone we played this year." Thats right, an LSU player admitted that OSU has just as much speed as anyone in the SEC.
Secondly, this was great experience for our young team. We have three seniors on our two-deep charts. The majority of our key players are freshmen and sophmores. OSU wasn't supposed to even be decent this year. We were supposed to struggle this year while gaining experience to make a run next year. If 11-2 and ranked 5th in the country in the final poll is considered rebuilding and struggling, next year, when we are actually supposed to be good, should be fun.
Maybe, just maybe, the SEC is better than the Big 10.
Tell that to Florida, who was beaten by a Michigan team who was maybe the fourth best team in the Big Ten...
Again though, props to LSU(Now the only school with more BCS Championships than OSU...although they still have a ways to go to match us in terms of actual National Championships)...they had a great group of seniors and juniors who played their hearts out, both last night and all year, and deserved to win...

If OSU makes those two plays, they win the game. I will have to say that every team that has played this year has had those in every single game that they have played, not just the OSU game. Something that I would like to say though is if OSU did make the first of those two plays, the game might have ended differently. It could have gone to LSU by a bigger score because they got fired up, or it could have gone to OSU with the momentum swing.OSU had plenty of speed, as evidenced by Beanie Wells BCS Title Game record 65 yard touchdown run on the fourth play of the game. That is in just one instance. You give any receiver, tight end, or running back with speed the ball and they manage to get an open field, you might as well pack up and go home on that play. But that play only. If I may bring up last years game against Florida, the kick off return by Ted Ginn Jr. He managed to break some tackles and got an open field. He scored a touchdown. All of the Florida defenders were not in the position to stop him. They were either off balance or being blocked. Same with that 65 yd. run. You break through the line and you're gone if all of the defenders are tied up. Metaphorically speaking of course. :) After the gameLSU tight end Richard Dickson said "They had just as much speed as anyone we played this year." Thats right, an LSU player admitted that OSU has just as much speed as anyone in the SEC. Yeah, but I only saw one player who had that kind of speed. You can't judge a conference on one player. All of the SEC teams are known for speed. Tell that to Florida, who was beaten by a Michigan team who was maybe the fourth best team in the Big Ten... Ok, keep in mind that the quarterback for Florida had his throwing hand broken during the last game of the season. Now that isn't giving an excuse for the loss because I will agree with you there that Florida played bad. That was an unacceptable performance. You were talking about a rebuilding season for OSU. Well there were only two returning starters for Florida's defense. All of the others were freshmen and sophmores. You can't expect junior and senior level of performance out of freshmen and sophmores. Again though, props to LSU(Now the only school with more BCS Championships than OSU...although they still have a ways to go to match us in terms of actual National Championships)...they had a great group of seniors and juniors who played their hearts out, both last night and all year, and deserved to win... I will agree there. LSU played a great season and deserved to win. They had a great team and a great group of players. I'm not saying that OSU had a bad season or has bad players, but LSU just had a better team and a better game yesterday.

Apparently the game you saw on television was different from the one Richard Dixson saw on the field, because he said, and I quote, again, "they had just as much speed as anyone we played this year." Notice he didn't say "they had one guy who was as fast as anyone we played." He made a general statement, regarding the entire team.
Of course, anyone who would take the time to compare 40 yard dash times would recognize that OSU consistently has as much speed as anyone in the country. The problem in the Florida game last year had little or nothing to do with the Florida players being "faster" than the OSU players. The problem was that OSU came into the game complacent, fell behind and was taken out of their gameplan, and thus played hesitant.
I will have to say that every team that has played this year has had those in every single game that they have played, not just the OSU game. Something that I would like to say though is if OSU did make the first of those two plays, the game might have ended differently. It could have gone to LSU by a bigger score because they got fired up, or it could have gone to OSU with the momentum swing.
The second play I mentioned was probably an even bigger play. That was the first of a sequence of several consecutive drives where the OSU defense forced the LSU offense into a punt situation. The score at the time was 24-10, if OSU gets that block, they either score on the runback or start with great field position. If they score, the score would have been 24-17. Add in the Malcolm Jenkins pick and subsequent touchdown just minutes later, and we have a tied ball game entering the fourth quarter. Unfortunatly, it just didn't work out that way. Again, kudos to LSU, and a lesson learned for the OSU players.
I'm already looking forward to the next big game...OSU vs. USC in the third week of the season next year. It doesn't get any better that the two most succesful college football programs of the last 10 years head-to-head...Should be as fun or more than the home and away we played against Texas a few years ago...

dude just acccept the fact that although OSU has "apparently" been "good enough" to make it to the championship game for like the past two years in a row, they have still been beaten rather badly. oh, and not trying to say anything, but both times by an SEC team (ok, so i was kinda, but it's still fact) and though OSU may have had the speed some of the SEC teams have, seeing as LSU plays in the SEC, they were probably no different than anyone else LSU has played against all year long. whereas OSU may be the fastest team in the big 10. i dunno, just speculating and wondering

something tells me that mad_wrapper has a point.

Just getting around to reading this. I couldn't help but note that Tommy's post sounded like a press statement.
Ever considered PR, Tommy?
