I just noticed somthing I am not to happy about *spitting:y14: fire*...... Why is it that before the site went down for what ever it was down for I had rep power 34-35 (I don't remember exact) and now I only have five????
I want to know, did that many people give me bad points???

Joe explained it here (http://www.yqnews.org/forums/showpost.php?p=88255&postcount=1).

That still doesn't explain how the system works...If you go the member list, you can rank users by rep points...before the shut down I was fairly close to the top...now I'm even with several people who have a "0" post count...
I thought it said everyone was reset...but I see several people who are not mods whose rep wasn't reset...
I'm not really concerned much with rep points, but honestly, it seems fairly arbitrary...

One thing we agree on.

I think people's rep power stayed sort of the same, but I'm with you Tommy. I was #4 and now I'm like # 468......so why don't u guys test it out, give me some and see if I'm still #4 :D I thought maybe your old standing doesn't get 'activated' until you get some rep on the 'new' system.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here... and assume that these people have gotten a green or two since the system was reset...

I was one of the first people to come on after the forums came back up...and it was already like that...so it isn't due to people receiving rep since the forums came back up...

I just looked at it... the top 10 or so look like they have received rep since the rep was reset, after that it just goes alphebeticly, so they all have the same. And remember, rep power that you can see everyone's isn't the same thing as your actual rep points.

Oooh, I like this new system... according to it I am 3rd from the top :D

So what is the rep power that everyone can see?

your rep power is how many rep points you will give someone if you give them a green. it's made up of components such as how long you've been a member, how many posts you have, and how much rep you have... though what the exact ratios are now, I don't know

How rep system works (http://www.yqnews.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1247)

That link might be beneficial to you, it at least outlines, clearly I hope, how the rep system work.

Keep in mind that I'm not exactly sure how Joe readjusted the getting of rep power now, so the numbers are probably off, but in principle, that article should help.
