View Full Version : I'm Feelin' BAAAD Right Now!
I just put the treadmill outta commission by running too fast. Who da man! Who da MAN!?

Lol, I think someone was a little too stressed, or drank a bit too much caffeine, or something...
I just watched Chariots of Fire the other night. :D

*groan*********
I take it you don't like that movie?

I've actually never seen it.
Then what right have you to groan?

Just the thought of you running in slo-mo and your treadmile going up in smoke....
fortunately it wasn't mine. unfortunately there was no smoke. :(

I think the treadmill had an electrical problem... :smiley_vi
The manufacturer should hire me to run on treadmills to test their electrical cicuits.

Since the illustrous engineer tested the machine, why can't he fix it. After all
to quote his signature line
"Scientists discover what already is, engineers create what never was. "
Maybe the reality is engineers duplicate what God has already created, but with a flaw.
Without Physics the engineers would know how to react to an act, without Math they wouldn't count.
I'm sorry JoeC. but I couldn't resist any longer without letting your signature line go without a hit.
I'm not an engineer... yet. I'm certainly not an electrical engineer.
Anyhow, as human beings we can create... we were made in the image of God and therefore express his attributes. Granted, we do operate on the laws he's already established.
Like I said, scientists think God's thoughts after him, engineers use those thoughts to create - or invent... though that has to be balanced with there being "nothing new under the sun."
Oh, and as a Christian, you create too. One of the things you create is an atmosphere. :)

Oh, and as a Christian, you create too. One of the things you create is an atmosphere. :)or do you carry with you the atmosphere God creates?
but it's great if that's the case, if that isn't overwhelmed by the atmosphere others bring with them

But then....Doesn't HE do the same?
Does God operate on the laws he's already established? What a great question!
That's something I've often wondered. When God set down his Word, he operated by it. Wouldn't it follow logically that he would do the same for natural laws? If that's so, then He must not be superceding natural law when He does miracles, but excercising a greater knowledge of them.... and from a different vantage point. :D

God is sovergin and does what He pleases. However he is constrained by His word. But God I believe goes beyond the natural law, when He does miracles, otherwise I think we could find an explaination. And there is no explaining God or what He does.
Now as a step from the spiritual, as a Physicist I couldn't resist hitting your signature.
But I am with you 100% on your reply, especially the part of the atomsphere we create. But one day, missing limbs will come back. If it wasn't for God's laws we would create our worlds and go live on them.
I didn't know you were a physicist. What exactly is your degree in?

Honours Physics B. Sc. Degree second class (didn't have enought GPA for first, and barely made second - Honours Math was a struggle, Physics was still easy and I loved it).
My hero growing up was Einstein, I tried to be another, then reality struck.
I woke up in my third year, realizing I didn't want to smash atoms to smitherings, and not see practical results. So minored in Geophysics and Geology.
My graduating group was 6.
God didn't get hold of me till after Uni. Now Christ is my hero.
This probably isn't much to brag, about, but the Physcis students, nearly (we were the closest to pulling it off) kidnapped one of the Engineering queens. One of the engineers got his foot in the door before we could close it, we knew where all the service tunnels where, and would of disappeared rapidly. After that the engineers watched us closely.

What significance does your graduating group number bear? I'm afraid I'm unaquainted with the Canadian educational system.
Oh, and did I understand you correctly? You graduated with a major in physics and a minor in geophysics and geology, correct?

Ah ha!
Kidnapping girls, now that sounds like something I would have done.

Well there was over 20,000 students, and Physics, along with Math had the smallest number of students. Engineers probably number the thousands.
As for the Kidnapping, we knew where the service tunnels were. Part of our midnight excursions, where to go exploring them. And alas, the enigneers must take Physics, so we knew the lecture halls, and doors. My part was to throw the breakers, thus killing the lights, everyone had a part to do, and a cue. We even had a hideout, arrange by a chemistry connection, deep in the heart of the chemistry building. A millisecond slower the engineer, or faster we, and we would of succeeded.
For the rest of Engineering week, the guards had doubled around all the contestants, and Physcis students where watched.
