View Full Version : Shaving

For the last year and a half, feels like longer, I'm had to shave in the shower standing up. I hate shaving let alone standing in a shower. okay here's why, my Hubby and I moved to Kansas and they don't believe in bath tubs here. J/K. We lived with a friend at first who only had a shower cause he was remodeling his other bathroom, then we moved in to a house that use to belong to an old lady who had the bathroom remodeled for handicap access, a bunch of bars and only a shower, the size of a bath tub, but only a 3 inch rim. In three weeks my landlord and Hubby are going to replace the shower with a tub, I'm excited.
How many of you have tried to shave in a shower? I learned to do it in college, dorms usually only have showers and if they have tubs they are open in the middle of the bathroom. It was good training for my married life in Kansas, but I hate it.

We're blessed with a nice big bathtub, so it's not really an issue.

I have had to shave in the shower sometimes and its terrible I agree practically everytime I shave in the shower I end up slicing myself!!! (but that could be because I accident prone lol)
BUT sometimes Waxing is better and easier but if you dont have a bath a shaving on the edge of a stool works.

I always slice my heel on my right foot open. Like seriously, every time. It's so horrible. And most of the time, I don't even know until my mom screams that there's blood all over the floor.

What are you doing shaving your heel? do you mean your ankle, cause I'm bad at shaving around my ankle and it's hard to do in the shower.

I hate being unshaven not just the prickly feeling but I feel so much cleaner and that is beacuse as you shave you scrape away dead skin (there was a study at cambridge uni)
but my problem is moisterizing after shaving (hair conditner makes them real smooth but no i dont use that) my legs are allergic to many different ones and I break out with a rash and my skirts dont go to the ground either so its quite annoying
vpiper
11-02-2006, 05:12 PM
That sounds annoying,
I don't mind shaving, I just hate doing it in the Shower.
Right now I'm not shaving very much and my legs hurt when I shave and they hurt when I don't shave, I'm trying to lotion them. It's just annoying, maybe I'll just cut them off. :chef
yeah that might hurt worse
AlanaH
11-02-2006, 05:32 PM
Lol...not sure how that would solve the problem...do tell. :)
And I try not to shave very often because then I break out too. Also, I've found that certain razors are better than others, so try different razors.
vpiper
11-03-2006, 03:30 PM
yeah my hubby was surprised that I told him I used razors 3 times before throwing them away. my legs are still attached, I shaved this morning, they don't hurt today

I shaved my legs once.
Yes, once.
It was horrible. The next day, they were all prickly like guys whiskers!!
So I never did it again. Well, once, but that was only a half hearted attempt.
I aren't a very hairy person, and I usually wear my skirts to my ankles, and I don't think anyone should be looking at my legs, anyway!
But, I have had them waxed a couple of times. It hurts, but at least the hair doesn't grow back all prickly.
As for shaving in the shower, my Mum would kill me if I tried. When you live in a country with limited water resources, like Australia, taking that extra time in the shower isn't an option. And, when you have a family of 8, and only one hot water supply, if the last person gets a cold shower, they're usually mad at the rest of the family.
Sometimes, I even get in trouble for the extra time it takes to shave my underarms in the shower... and there is no way you can't do that in the shower!

It's an Eastern thing, we have a large Indian community around here and they all do it.
It's also called threading, alot neater and a whole lot less painfull than plucking or waxing.

I have never ever plucked or waxed or done anything to my eyebrows.
I was going to... and then someone told me "What are you thinking!? You've got perfect eyebrows! They're like models' eyebrows... don't ever change them, because you'll never get them back like that again."
I'm glad I didn't. Not because I think my eyebrows look like Nichole Kidman's or anything. But because I just don't have to worry about them.
There's too much else to worry about in this world with out making sure my eyebrows always look ok.

I think it was a stupid(too personal) question really, women's legs are to be covered for the most part anyway. It's like the pajama question, that's between you and you hubby, no one else is suppose to see you in your jammies anyway. that what robes are for.

Yeah, I just didn't know if I should say it. But, yes, it was prostitution. So, you can see how people would think braiding is bad. But, broiding was all about the motive and objective.

The great thing is that God always has a good reason to tell us to do or not do something, like all the rules in the old testament were to keep the Israelites healthy and happy.

I agree that broiding was weaving things through your hair. And I totally agree that it's all about the attitude and spirit that motivates you. I have a lot of personal experience (bad and good) with this and I could say a LOT of things on this topic, but I'll just say that the closer I get to the Lord, the more I realize that it's all about your heart! If your heart is perfect toward Him, everything else just kind of falls into place. Well that's my soapbox moment for the day. :)
