I finally realized that you can edit a post right after you post it but after awhile it gets locked. You also can't seem to edit a post that is starting a thread. So the questions is why the anti-editing campaign?
{Granted I could always be wrong as I'm now editing this post... let's see what happens though.}

And alas the editing button is now gone. So half of my post still stands. :)

you can edit your post for up to 5 or 10 minutes after it is posted... after that, you have to ask a mod to edit it for you. I think that's because you don't want someone to write a post, then have people reply to it... and then have them change their post that everyone already replied to

Makes sense. But sometimes it's annoying because you only catch your mistake after you've come back to read your own post.
I believe the deadline was extended to 30 minutes, HotShot.

I can attest that it is still 5 minutes.

It should be just a little longer. Maybe not 30 minutes....how about 15???
