Ok, so I failed in my attempt to take over the collection thread with my Old Time Radio subject - mainly because the girls insisted on talking about organizing their notes with pretty colored ink.
So, I'm starting a thread dedicated to Old Time Radio here, where girls can't lament 5 dollar writing instruments (us guys know better, we can appreciate good tools of any kind).
OTR 101, lesson one:
Sherlock Holmes with Basil Rathbone (the REAL Sherlock Holmes) and Nigel Bruce (the ONLY Dr. Watson).
Gentlemen, I present Murder by Moonlight (http://www.rusc.com/samples/shlm.1945.10.29_MurderbyMoonlight.mp3), originally aired Oct. 29th, 1945!
Sit back and relax! Let your mind make the movie.

Very cool!
Oh yah, and there's lots cooler. One of my favorites is the episode of Escape where the hero accidentally sinks his ship near an island inhabited by a world-reknowned big game hunter. Problem is, the guy has tired of hunting animals...
Riveting stuff.

This sounds like a short story I read in English class... I think it was called "A Most Dangerous Game". If it is the same basic story... it WAS very interesting.

Yeah, I think I read that story for english class too ;)
OTR improvised from stories a lot. Really interesting to listen to it. :D

Lol, interesting... I just think they could do a bit less of the "said Tony the frog" stuff... the voices are different enough to tell apart ;)
Here's a commericla listing of collections, but they give full episode samples. :D

I really enjoyed the Adventures in Research show I had never heard about... never knew that Gearge Westinghouse was such a productive inventor!
