Well Since there are plenty of topics and things about problems with this and that. I thought why not start a good ol positive post were we can only be thankful for the good things in and about our families. :D So to get it started off, lets see... I am thankful for staying together as a family. Through all our trials and hardships we have still remained a close family.
Sure some of us have moved out of state but we still stay in contact and we see eachother in person almost every weekend at service. I am very thankful for my exstended family as well. My Christian brothers and sisters who continue to support us from all over the world. We maybe a small home church but we have had visitors from Canada, Sinapore, Africa, and just all over here in the USA. It always lifts my spirits to be apart of this great big family. And when I get to meet new believers all the better cause then I know God is blessing me with new brothers and sisters to hang out with lol.
My mom and dad have put up with alot from us kids lol over the years, but they still love us ever so much. They are awesome parents and I thank God for them.

I am thankful also for my parents, and for all of the opportunities that the Lord has provided for me. I am also thankful that this year's hurricane season, (not quite over yet) did very little damage where we are at. Last year we got hit twice, and the first time we were without power for about 5 days, and the second about 2 days. All the time, the Lord kept us safe, we had plenty of gas, and a very large generator that we were able to run our fridges and freezers on so we didn't loose any food like so many others did. Of all this, I thank the Lord.

i will like to give God thanks for life spared, for keeping me as a Christian for all these years even when i strayed he was there holding my hand leading me back all becaused he loved me, i am really grateful and thankful for that.
I had a problem with the school that i go to but he worked it out i really have to give God praise and thanks for it because there was no human way that situation would have worked out God had to intervene.
I will also like to thank him for keeping my family safe even though they are not in the message he continues to watch over them and keep them safe and that means a lot to me. Recently the Lord has place a great compassion in my heart for young ppl who are struggling with this message now i no longer get upset when i see them do certain things but i really pray and ask God to help them and give them overcoming power.
i have a lot to give God thanks for will save some for another time :)

Heh heh.
I would like to thank the Lord for keeping me for as long as He has. There are many that have fallen away. His keeping grace is so much more than His saving grace. It is hard to be around others and not feel the wrong pull. One o my teachers told me today "eventually, you are going to be who you want to be." I take that as I don't have to be who the others tell me to be, or try to tell me to be. I want to be where I am. I want to be in Christ, and I want to have a passion for Him. I am thankful that He has opened my eyes to see Him. I just want to be able to see Him more. I pray that He will renew my fire for Him.

I am thankful for Blessed and Collegegirl, and all the others on the board who share their fellowship with me. :) Being the only family in this city as we are its hard to get that kind of fellowship and I am thankful for your friendship.
I am also claiming the victory of Hui, She means so much to me and I thank the Lord for touching her heart and showing himself to her. Praise the Lord :D and I am going to claim the victory of being able to be with her in person.

"Give Thanks with a grateful heart..." :musicians
I'm ever so thankful to God for giving me a wonderful mother who has raised me in and around the message, so that I would be spared from having to deal with the pains and craziness of this world. For allowing my mother, to raise 4 children single handedly....and to provide us with all of our needs. God truly is good.
I'm also thankful that God has allowed my family, my siblings, to grow more connected together, to actually be a loving family.
There are so many things to be thankful for I cannot possible list them all. So I will thank God for all those things. :)

Since that is the reason for this thread I wanted to place something. I'm thankful for my family, all of it. My In-laws and I hit a big bump in the road of life and even though we are still trying to get over it, I now know there is still hope of overcoming it. Thank you. hugs make a big difference, it's hard to yell and scream and be mad during a hug. I have hope for the New year with God's help things are only going to get better

Not to pick on catholics, but it is amazing how little of the Bible that they know of. I know someone that had never heard of most of the Bible stories that I grew up on, like the 5 loaves and 2 fishes, and Fiery Furnace, and Balaam and his donkey, and many others, and they are in their 40's.
Christian-Samurai
01-10-2006, 04:30 PM
hahah forget that, its amazing how little they even know about even being a catholic, they just say they are cause its a "cool" and "popular" group to be in, they dont follow really what in their faith they just pick what they want and forget the rest

im not sure catholics are allowed to read the bible, they usually read whatever literature the church gives them which usually does not have the bible teaching

Although some dioceses may encourage the mentality of only listening to the priest, Bible reading (to my understanding) is not prohibited. Restricted reading of the Bible pretty much vanished after English translations came out. Granted, the Catholic church probably remains a non conducive environment for Scripture study - but to say that they are restricted from reading their Bible is simply a myth.

Yes I have met many chatholics to have bibles in their homes, so I wouldnt think they are banned, many non religious and denominations read the bible and know every line and word by heart better than the best of us i bet but they dont have a revelation of the words in the book so to them it cant have the same effect SO I suspect that alot of them just get board or lazy about it and just let the preists do most of the talk and reading out of the bible
NeedGod
01-11-2006, 05:23 AM
those additional books in the catholic bibles, they baffle me. where are they from. another thing, a non-believer might know the whole bible by heart but the one verse you have with a revelation will benefit you more than all of them will do to him/her
marichino_freedom
01-11-2006, 09:38 PM
i grew up catholic, and the only time we ever read our bibles was in class once or twice a week, and it was ALWAYS out of the gospels or new testament..we never cover revalation (at least hardly at all) and the same readings were rotated during church every year....bo-ring!

people are born catholic, when a catholic couple has a baby it is baptized(sprinkled) and becomes catholic. they(some anyway) don't believe in birth control, so they have lots of babies and you don't have to attend chuirch to call yourself cathic and make your children catholic. yeah it's the same as most people who call themselves christians because they believe there is a God
