View Full Version : The annihilation of comfy shoes

I came back from town the other day and my one of my favourite pairs of shoes were wrecked :012:. It was a long time coming, but it pained me to throw them away. They were black, crocheted, ballet sorta shoes and they were sooooo comfy. They only thing, or things rather that persuaded me to throw them away, were the three massive and very painful blisters on my feet. I hate throwings things that have served me soo well over the years away, even if they are tattered and torn. Does anybody else feel my pain?

i love shoes, but i hate parting with them.
but i always want to buy more....in order to do that, i promise myself to get rid of at least one pair
ooooo shoes!! my favorite thing in the world...(well not really, but I really like them). I have about 40 pairs.... but I have to start weeding them out, which pains me a little since I put so much time and effort into finding the perfect shoes for different outfits and such...but...see I had a problem with high heels...I was addicted to them, and loved not being so short (since I get teased for it constantly, but the heels didn't help, I still got teased lol) Anyways so, God has been dealing with me and I feel that if I'm gonna be living 100% for God then I shouldn't let a silly little thing like shoes get in the way of it. So...out with the old high heeled shoes....and in with cute little flats! I getta go shopping. I getta go shopping. :)
Just wanna say Praise the Lord from delivering me from that spirit!

I hate shoes! I like to go barefoot as much as possible, and when I have to wear shoes, I take them off as soon as I can. I hate shopping for shoes too. I wish they'd just appear so I wouldn't have to try a bunch on first.

I like heels, none of mine are spikes or over two inches though. I prefer wedge or block heels..but I do like my heels. Actually, I think I only have maybe one pair of flat shoes...
marichino_freedom
09-15-2006, 07:35 PM
i only have my heels that are about 2 inches from my sisters wedding, and a pair of heels that are about an inch.
the boots i have, though, are big chunky heels (about 2 inches) and i LOVE them....they make me feel like i'm wearing combat boots!
i have come to realize that i have too many pairs of tennis shoes........i LIVE in those

well...shoes are fine...except one thing....
there is not a pair of shoes in the world that are atually comfortable...you get heels and your ankles and calves hurt..you get them flat and your arches ache cuz of no padding.
I hate shoe shopping. They don't make shoes to fit my Fred Flinstone feet.

Hey I'm going to join the big foot club. I'm a UK size 8 which is a US 9 1/2 (roughly). When I was going to school it was a nightmare to try and find a decent pair of flat heels. All the size 8 styles were things middle aged or older ladies would wear. I am soo loving the flat shoe revival. Chelles, I know what you mean by those shoes and I think they're gorgoeus. Just have to find one that will fit my long extra wide foot lol.
If I could, I would live in trainers and my two pairs of flip flops as I find them the most comfortable things in the world. I LOVE shoes. I don't actually know how many pairs I have. Shoes, handbags and jewellery are my shopping weaknesses. Good for my wardrobe -bad for my bank account ;)

My sympathies to you. I had the same size feet when I was your age. Hopefully your feet wont grow anymore. In my case, it's a curse from my mums side of the family ;) . All the females apart from 1 aunt and my lil sis have size 8 feet (the two lucky ones have size 7 feet -oh the injustice :012: ). I have to buy mens trainers, coz womens only go up to a size 7 (how rude). But I've discovered a fantastic shop that caters for the long and wide and their shoes are really cute and not unreasonably priced. I think my trainers are on their last legs too....arghhh!!!! But as usual I'll wear them until they're literally falling to bits :D

I adore shoes! I guess I've never really thought of it, but it's pretty easy for me to fit in shoes; I just must have perfect feet :) I'm an 8.5 and not a wide or narrow. My last count was 50 pairs. My goal was to keep it there, so if I bought a new pair, to get rid of one, but I've been unsuccessful.....so I probably am at 55. But I love things to be exactly matching, so you have to have many pairs of shoes for that. OH, and purses have to match too!
EllyMae
09-18-2006, 08:13 PM
I'm nowhere close 50 pairs of shoes! lol
In the summer all I wear is flip flops, and then for the winter I'll have like 1 pair of tennis shoes and maybe 1 pair of boots.
Don't have many purses either... About 4.

I was using my dark green leather one for work before the holidays but I've rediscovered my burgundy 'student' bag. Yay for bags!! As for shoes...I think I'm making up for the lack of good looking ones that were available when I was younger ;). I have 2 pairs of flip flops, 2 pairs of comfy flats, 4 pairs of trainers, 2 sandle flats, 3 pairs of boots and an untold number of church shoes. Like I said I LOVE bags and shoes :D

I want to find a way to get drinks in! @ an M's game, no bottled things are allowed in, so they can charge lik $4/drink. I even thought of a baby bottle, but someone said they take them away if you don't have a baby.

If you hide it well enough, you can. Just wrap it in a blanket or sweater in your bag. I always bring a small back-pack to carry a blanket and extra sweater and some food, so you can just wrap the bottle in it.

i've only been to 3 games in my life...and they were all within the last year and a half! i didnt sneak anything in there just because i wanted my first stadium hot dog....cheesy, i know.
I used to go to a lot of movies, too (like in the summer) so I'd sneak pop and chips or whatever in all the time, but now i go maybe once or twice a month if that, but i still sneak in pop and a snack. like i said....too expensive for concessions
Babyruth

Stadium food is soooo expensive! It's ridiculous! And it's not even all that great. I don't eat hot dogs, but I do like the Ivar's clam chowder there. It's sooo good! But, we normally eat dinner before going, then just bring snacks, or buy something small and reasonably cheap.

Babyruth

Yeah, they are pretty much the only thing that's reasonably cheap, the dogs. And I don't eat them, so I usually have the chowder. I like our nachos, ours are pretty good.

I was wondering the same thing, I think it was the purses that somehow got it to chowder. I have um way to many pairs of shoes, but that doesnt seem to be enough! wow...28 purses? that's unreal. I only have 2 ...one brown and one black. But i always have to carry a diaper bag with me now, so i only carry a wallet in the diaper bag instead of an actual purse. Much eaiser.

Aww man, that's not fair... I don't have a diaper bag!! *grin*
Nor do I have 28 purses. Wow... what do you DO with them all? I've only got one. Well, one that I use. It's brown, and I don't care if it matches everything I wear or not. It's big, so it's got everything in it... to take it all out & put it into another bag would be just painful!
Actually, I do have some other bags, but they're "old" ones that I just haven't got around to getting rid of.
As for shoes, last count I had about 10 pairs, and I reckon THAT's alot. But I've bought more since then. I just can't help it... they're so cheap at the moment! A couple of weeks ago, I bought a pair for $7. That's about US$5. And they're so comfortable, I've worn them everywhere since!!

I use them of course :) I'm kind of a matching freak, so I switch my purse almost every day. I just dump all the contents into the other one. Often I do it while I'm driving, so I always think if someone broke into my car, b/c they saw 3 purses on the back seat, they would be sorely disappointed, b/c their all empty. Today I am using a white one, yesterday was black, Sunday was orange, Saturday was a zippered one, so I wouldn't lose anything, and friday night was a striped one to match my outfit, and friday day was yet another one....obsessive I know.

You're my kind of girl lol. I started to count mine, got to 20, lost count and couldn't be bothered start again :D. I have about 2 or three bags that I use frequently and the rest I use to mostly match my church outfits. I have used a bag and then discovered things that I thought I'd lost, or things I'd completely forgotten about-like pens, hand cream, handkerchiefs, necklaces, vouchers etc etc. Bags, shoes and jewellery mmmmm..... :). I need to find some new flat black shoes to take the place of my annihilated ones.

I never needed braces either until I got my wisdom teeth in. Then two jammed together, but not really that bad. But I would think that since my wisdom teeth are out that the other two would go back to their spots, but they haven't yet. (It's been like 3 years now)
Wondering if a regular retainer would help...I don't wanna spend money for braces just because of two teeth.
i wore braces. only one of my teeth ever fell out so the dentist had to extract them out (about 22 i think ) over a period of time. my teeth had just formed extra rows, so my mouth was over crowded. i have had the braces off for nearly 2yrs.
Back to the topic i only have maybe five bags/purses and like four or five sets of different kinds of footwear. i only really wear my tennishoes.

I've lost my baby teeth in the weirdest ways...
My mom's only pulled a few, cause one got stuck in a Skittle, two were caught in a Starburst jellybean at the same time...um....I tripped and fell in Lowe's and lost my first one on the concrete floor.....um....I ran into a bookshelf and lost one that way... I've had an interesting childhood. :)
And I've only had one pulled and that was because the new one had grown in over top of it, so the only direction it could go was flat against the roof of my mouth. But extracting it didn't hurt. (thankfully)

I thought I would post someone on the original topic (imagine that..) I got rid of 3 pairs of shoes this weekend. I guess I sort of came to to my senses. It was involving 3 pairs of $3 shoes from Walmart..(ok, so I have a weakness for inexpensive, cute shoes). Pair #1 was a size too small, pair #2 was never worn, and pair #3 hurt terribly, so I decided why am I keeping these?

Oh, of course not! I never can throw stuff away (another problem of mine...); I always have to find homes for my stuff. Although, sometimes I realize no one, but Salvation Army wants my junk. But these shoes got sold at a garage sale, so I actually made a few bucks, which actually makes it quite worth it, since they cost next to nothing and I held on to them for a year, it was like I "borrowed" them for a year.

I need new shoes!! I need black work shoes for summer, that don't have hi heels, and don't have the toes out of them.
The ones I have now kill my feet & lower leg. They're just over an inch high... but I really need to get lower shoes.
I hate shoe shopping. Serious. I can never find anything I like for a reasonable price.
Especially when it's something in particular I NEED.

They just came in the mail! It really brightened my day, because I'm not feeling 100% right now (sad, I know). They fit perfectly and only have a tiny scuff, otherwise are brand new.
I hate having to shop when I need things too; you never find them...that's why you need to continually shop, because then you find stuff when you aren't looking and have it when you need it :P
I've decided I want a pink and brown outfit too! I have a brown vest that I wear a pink shirt with that I like. But I'm thinking a skirt that is brown w/ pink polka dots and a little pink sweater would be so cute!

Sorry, not in Australia, and not this time of year!!
I bought shoes!!!
Closed toe, flat, with "breathing space" and they're really cute, can wear them to work, or out casually!!
Only thing is, they weren't in my $10 price bracket. Or my $30 bracket, either.
They're only about a quarter inch high... and you know what dad says to me? "You could do without that heel, tho. They're creeping up!"
Wow. I guess he never saw me in those 1.5 inch heels (that I'm no longer wearing.)

I only wear heels on sundays coz I know I won't be standing around for very long or walking very far. Apart from that, it's all about trainers and flat comfy shoes. I don't get those women who can walk around in 4/5/6 (or anything higher) inch heels. It looks tortureous and it can't be healthy. Bring on comfy shoes....

Now that would be terrible. Especially those stiletto come-down-to-a-point heels. I can never wear those, no matter how short, and I don't really mind cause I don't like them anyway. I prefer block or wedge heels.

I can't wear heels. I used to wear shoes up to 1.5 inches, but lately, they've been really killing my feet & calves. Maybe God's trying to tell me something...
Also, as a girl, I really don't need to be 5"11' or 6". So there's really no need for shoes to make me any taller than I am already!
But I'm not going to be legalistic about it anymore. No more taking a tape measure shopping, or making sure it isn't going to offend anyone else, but just wearing what I find comfy, and within my personal convictions!!

it depends on what you sell...its mostly all in how you list it...the more detail the better, as long as you dont have to spend an hour reading the discription. And pictures are a plus!!!

first of all, this thread has been dead a while, and secondly......amazon TOTALLY can be cheaper....i just bought a couple of things on their that normally run about 30 bucks in the stores (each) and I paid $11.20 total (for both and with shipping and handling). plus, they are brand new! They are by the Maranatha singers and we have the tapes, but they're soooo old and they're starting to get that warped sound.
