View Full Version : It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."

It said, a little sign up over there, said, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." So that's a good idea. You may not be so very big, but get a lot of fight about you. You got to get into it. Anything I hate to see is a spineless person call themselves a Christian. My, God wants somebody with grit and backbone.

This might not be the best post for someone of my stature (6'6") but this statement is so true. Men, it isn't your height, bench, manliness, or awesomeness that makes you a real man of God, it's your decidication to the Word and surrenderence to the Spirit of God, that real spiritual backbone to stand for God.

I wanted to start this post to really look into the humbleness that we ought to have, and to keep the strength on the inside (surrending to the Holy Ghost), and leaving off all the outward boastings.

Would love to see some quotes and scriptures on this for sure. Let's see what we can come up with.

Excellent topic! :)

I like old Buddy Robinson's testimony, he said, "Lord, give me the backbone the size of a saw log. Put plenty of knowledge in the gable end of my soul. Let me fight the devil as long as I got one tooth left, and then gum on him till I die." That's what we need: courage, not a wishbone, but a backbone, a real Spirit filled heart, filled with the Holy Ghost, sanctified by the Blood of Jesus Christ, living in a life, walking in the path of God, keeping His commandments, claiming every promise as your own property. Hallelujah.

I was going into a football stadium one time, where I was to have a service. And the sign up over the door, I'll never forget it, says, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog." And that's what we need tonight, is somebody's got enough courage and backbone. No matter if he don't belong to a denomination, if you got a D.D., or what you got, you've got Jesus Christ on your side as long as you preach the uncompromising Word of the living God and stand on the same. God promised that He would back it up and would... That's exactly true.

When God made a man first, he made him both male and female in spirit. He made him in His own image, and God is a Spirit. When He separated him, and put him in flesh, he put the masculine spirit in a man, and the feminist spirit in a woman. And if anything's contrary to that, there's a bit of perversion there. Exactly. You see a woman trying to act like a man, there's a little something wrong there. The cell's crossed up somewhere. That's right. You see a man so sissified that he won't preach against sin or nothing else like that, to hurt somebody's feelings, there's a cross up there somewhere too, not only his natural birth, but spiritual birth.
Oh, what we need today is that a man be a man, a woman be a lady. God didn't intend to be that way. Dress different.
Say, "You're hammering us women." Now I'm going to tell you about the man. Any man that'll let his wife smoke cigarettes, and wear them shorts, and act like that, there's very little man in him, to my opinion. That's right. I've got my opinion of a man that'll let his wife do that. I--I sure have.
"Well, what's the matter?," you say. Well, brother, here's what it is. Man is not measured by strength this way.
"Oh," say, "that guy's a man; he's six foot tall, got muscles that big." I've seen a many of them weigh two hundred pounds, six foot and half tall, and not an ounce of man in them. Throw a baby out of a mother's arms and ravish her.
Man's not measured... That's brute. That's brute, strength is. Man's measured by character. There never was a man like Jesus Christ, never measured up to Him. And the Bible said, "There's no beauty we should desire Him." Didn't look like a King; He was a little, bitty Fellow, probably stooped, little small in statue, but there never was a man like Him. Man is measured by character, not by brutal strength.

We're a no match for the devil, but if we have Christ in us (the Word), he'll have no chance against us. God bless you Bro. Great topic.

35 Now, I don't see where any great big names and so forth fits a real man of God.

Some big named Message people might want to read that quote...

27 As David, when he tried to take up a sword and put on Saul's ecclesiastical jacket, it didn't fit him. Never does fit a real man of God. But he picked up... He said, "Let me go with what I've proved."

I love this quote on David too. David is an example of what it really means when God has complete control of a man. I want to be used in that way for His service, with no involvement from me, just His Spirit fulling His Word.
