Let me begin this thread by saying that I am the world's worst procrastinator when it comes to exercising. I know I should do it, but for some reason the motivation is not always there - even though I have a machine sitting in the corner of my bedroom. How do you guys stay motivated and/or motivate yourself to either go to the gym or just take a nice long walk?

I pretty much just lay down and wait for the feeling to pass. Then I'm all good. Lol. I have a pretty physical job, and I usually play basketball once a week with some guys from church, but that's about all I do to stay in shape.

As I have stated before, I have an undying passion for weightlifting which I still have no reason why. Other than that, I don't run hardly ever, just have good metabolism, sorry bro.

Having something to do while working out helps like listening to a Brother Branham message while going for a walk or listening to music or the radio or something.

Also you need a reason to work out, well at least I do, wanting bigger muscles or improved fitness never did it for me. I need another reason besides that, usually it involves a girl :-p or in summer i'm more motivated for some reason.

I'll have to think about it a bit more I suppose, I'm not usually that motivated myself mostly because I've tried so hard before and done everything you're supposed to do and still not gained any muscle.

This post was hilarious and worthy of much greens.... I have to spread some reps around first tho.

I too am rather unmotivated by my gym membership. Could it be the 2 month old baby girl I have keeping me up till night unto midnight every night that keeps me from getting up early before work to go?

Or could it be they always have MTV2 playing on the stupid TVs while I'm exercising and have nothing to look at. That's a serious demotivator.

I want to get back onto that elliptical trainer tho... actually, I just want one for my house...then I don't have to worry about the dumb gym. The only problem is, the elliptical trainer I want is the same one as they have at the gym... do you know how much those cost?? unreal!

For me, I enjoy doing it because I reap the benefits. I'm not strong that can lift heavy weights, but a simple workout once or twice a week is enough to wash away stress. I enjoy running.

OK ppl I think we need to remove Bro Trevors excuse from him. I dont think he should be allowed to blame the baby. lol not untill she has grown up enough to beable to come on here to defend herself. So if actually gave reds or greens then would give one red for baby scape goat. Rule #1 Baby is blessing not scapegoat heh and Rule #2 DJ makes better scapegoat so blame him for keeping you up lol :D

I'm with you on that. I have never been that strong for weight lifting, but find that a nice 15-20 minute walk or time on a stationary bike feels good. I used to run and do pushups and situps, but would have to get back into shape for that! lol

If you enjoyed my post so much, isn't the proper way to show respect with those little scales at the top of the post? That's the whole purpose isn't it? To show which posts you like?

Allow me to give an example of begging.
*begins false begging*
Please guys! I NEED GREEEEEEEEEEENS!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me greens! Must have more rep points! Come on guys, really. I'm desperate here. I absolutely, positively, without question, no doubt about it HAVE to have more greens. Remember, only YOU can help prevent forest fires... And give me more greens.
*stops fake begging*

Surely you can see a difference between begging, and what I was doing.

I do some form of exercise every day exept sunday. Usually, I run one day...then the next day I do some form of lifting weights. Usually I only run about...two miles or if I'm feeling motivated I run about three. With weights, I do high numbers of reps with less weight. It builds strength and endurance better. As far as what motivates me...I really dont know what motivates me. Possibly the wanting to keep a good physical figure. Other than that...I really enjoy running and weight lifting.

I find that having a disciplined regime in respect to eating and excersising can help one to maintain a disciplined Christian life.

Anyone else ever had this observation?

Yeah i know exactly what your talking about.... having a disciplined regime in everything can make a difference. Exercising every day, eating right, ...not blowing your money on unneccesary things.... all these for me anyways contribute to having better control over myself as a person and as a christian. Having the motivation to actually read the bible every day...and actually live the life of a christian. Its really easy to talk about it....but to actually doing it is what it comes down to. LIving the best you can for our Lord! ! : )

Erm... I don't think I've ever had a disciplined regime in eating and exercising... so... can't say that I've experienced that... I would say the logic is sound, being disciplined in one area of your life leads to being disciplined in another. Just so long as you don't go overboard with it and become so consumed with what you eat and how much you exercise that it takes aways from your spiritual life.

I never use exercise equipment. That is so totally boring to me.
I stay in shape by doing the things I love to do. It is important to seek out new activities and try everything that you can think of.
One thing I enjoy is bicycle riding. Exploring new roads and country is so interesting. I used to have a motorcycle but I think a bike is better because none of the sounds around me are drowned out by an engine. My legs have gotten really strong and I can eat anything I want with no weight gain. I also like tennis, badminton and basketball.

I guess for some discipline has a place. I'm not much for discipline. Do most people eat 3 meals a day because they are disciplined? Does anybody call their girlfriend 5 times a day because they are disciplined? If not, then what is the motivation - simple love.

I also like doing work like gardening. I raise various berries, vegetables and unusual plants. I enjoy tasting new berries or making a new dish from an Indian squash etc. It is also fun to watch others enjoy a new food they have never had before. There is a huge variety of seeds and plants available on the web that offer an almost infinite variety of tastes and textures.

Walking with the Lord is the same thing. It is most important for us to have a passionate love for the Lord. That is why there is so much lukewarmness. They have a form of godliness, but they seem to be growing the same old ear of corn each year and bicycling the same old path because they deny the power thereof. The power will give us a new adventure and excitement each day so that our motivation will be strong, our love will be hot and our power with God will be undeniable! That's what I can see in the life of Bro. Branham. I have been asking the Lord to show me new things each day and He gives me 'gold nuggets'. But I also ask Him to place a fiery hot burning love in my heart for Him and his Word and I know that passion will translate into every part of my life. Recognizing that Bro Branham is a prophet does not make us special. Having our hearts completely turned back to our apostolic fathers is the thing that will keep us on the straight and narrow way.

Then why are most preachers rather portly???

I guess some don't "Practice" what they "Preach" lol... sorry... that made me snicker so I had to write it.

I dunno, most ministers I have seen aren't too bad of shape, some are... larger... but for the most part they don't seem all big... Where's the quotes on this topic anyway!?!? lol

They don't fast enough... ;-) LOL! In all seriousness though... it's true (you lose weight if you don’t eat)! (Sorry bad joke but...!)

By the way why exercise on a treadmill? I can’t think of any good reason not to just go out a walk/jog/run. Surely too you can get some exercise by doing something instead of going to the gym! Wash the car, sweep the drive (with a broom!), wash windows, mop the floor by hand, clean the bathtub/shower (by hand), wash your clothes by hand! (Ok that last one I just had to laugh!)

Weather can be a major cause for not going outside to do these things, Like right now we are in a major heat wave here and if i went outside to run I would just faint. and during winter months when there is snow and it is cold, so a gym can be very useful when the outside is not avalible.

Well, I lifted yesterday and hurt my rotary cuff (sp), so I won't be benching for a couple weeks probably...

Even though, I did deadlift 450 today, which felt AWESOME, the most I have EVER done!! That's always a good feeling (of course my back would beg to differ).
